About Hourglass Education

From day one, Hourglass has understood that our role is simple – to introduce the best possible teachers to schools offering the best possible roles.

 

Over the years, as well as getting to know hundreds of excellent UK teachers, we have searched far and wide to find high-calibre candidates for our client schools. This has taken us literally all over the world, and we have learnt a great deal about international relocation and successfully inducting overseas teachers along the way.

 

In 2019, Hourglass teamed up with Pertemps Professional Recruitment (PPR). This partnership worked from day one as we have a shared commitment to ambitious recruitment, operating with honesty and integrity and a passion for working with people.

 

We have now joined forces with PPR’s other education business, Pertemps Education Network (PEN). PEN continues to find agile, energetic and reliable temporary teachers and support staff for their schools. Hourglass’ focus is still specialist recruitment: permanent teaching posts, candidates from overseas, and leadership appointments.

Hourglass have been supportive and professional throughout my job hunt. Following completion of my PGCE during lockdown I suddenly found myself with 2 interviews in 24 hours. Ed was quick to offer telephone and email support and was as delighted as me when the 2nd interview was a success.

I have had an absolutely fantastic experience with Hourglass Education. I cannot praise them highly enough. They are careful and attentive, keep in regular contact, highly professional and genuinely interested in securing the best position for your needs. I mostly dealt with Ed Hyland and Josh Travis. They were wonderful. If you are considering using an agency, I would wholeheartedly recommend Hourglass Education.

I have been working with Hourglass on and off since 2015. In my experience, they are an amazingly professional and efficient agency that will always go the extra mile to find the best possible position for their candidates. In particular, I have to say that consultants, Josh T and Danny G are just brilliant at what they do. There are lots of agencies out there but this one stands out for delivering excellent service.

Hourglass has been simply amazing! I got a call from Marcus out of the blue, and was incredibly nervous about working with an agency I hadn't heard of before, however, he was reassuring, and very knowledgeable about what he was doing. After a few dead ends, Josh sent me the opportunity of a lifetime, and throughout the whole process, was constantly on the ball. He'd keep me in the loop for everything, and always answered my never ending stream of questions. He constantly checked in, and made sure that I was okay. Excellent service and quality of people who work at Hourglass! 100% recommend!

I signed up with several teacher recruitment agencies but the moment I got a call from Danny Greetham at Hourglass I knew that I was in good hands. James Letven took over my case from Danny and he was remarkable. James was very professional and regularly communicated with me through the entire process. James spoke with me on a Tuesday morning, by thursday I had an interview and by Friday I was offered the job. This is how fast they work at Hourglass. James and Claire Murphy guided me through the immigration process and everything went smoothly. I was paired with a lovely school and I have had continuous support even after migrating. Similar to other comments here, I was not looking for Hourglass but they found me. I had spend quite some time looking for jobs and working on those tedious long applications to a number of different schools until Hourglass called me. From the very beginning they were super friendly, they offered personalised attention and they really did follow up on my case. I tried with other recruiting agencies but nothing happened with them so now I tell everyone about Hourglass. As an English teacher but non-native speaker, I was applying for Spanish positions since that is my first language but I was getting no positive results in that search. Ed from Hourglass encouraged me to go for English positions even when I was very weary of doing so. In the end, it was Ed who did it for me. He was so friendly and efficient and he also offered me honest advice when it came down to choosing between 2 salary options the school offered me. From now onwards, if I change in the future, I will definitely go through Hourglass since they offer a very professional, kind and caring service. Thanks Ed!

10 stars for HOURGLASS and 10 more for JOSH I would like to thank Josh Travis at Hourglass profusely for finding me not just a job, but THE JOB! – the ideal teaching position in an amazing school that will allow me vast growth and development as a teacher. I was already registered with two other recommended agencies when Josh contacted me out of the blue from Hourglass after seeing my CV online. His call was a godsend. I had become disillusioned with the whole process of finding a psychology teaching position as an NQT. Interacting with the other agencies was a culmination of a lack of communication and follow-up calls regarding possible job roles. From the onset, I realised Josh was different. He portrayed as far more professional, attentive, and engaging. There was a vast difference in the level of communication and support I received from Josh. He consistently communicated – maintaining contact and support throughout; and was readily available at every call – giving his time and full attention. Interestingly, I felt Josh not only knew what role I wanted but understood my personality and recognised the attributes and skills I would bring to that role; and that he would effectively communicate this to potential employers. I trusted Josh’s competence and I was confident that he would secure me a teaching position. Indeed, he did. Accordingly, Josh was prompt in confirming my subsequent interview and providing the necessary information I needed to prepare. Most importantly, he checked in on how my preparation was progressing, and called the day before to wish me good luck. Once again, I thank you Josh! and I thank you Hourglass! I would most definitely recommend Hourglass Education to any teacher - experienced or newly qualified.

I received around the clock professional support. Ed was fantastic and secured me a position within a week of enrolling. Hourglass is a highly recommended education agency in the UK. Ed Hyland, the senior consultant @ Hourglass has done an amazing job to find the right school for me. Ed has looked for every possible opportunities for me and worked his socks off to get me-my desired position and the expected salary. My agent Ed did an amazing job at helping me find a school that is right for me, and also able to provide visa sponsorship.He was very considerate and had all the important details I needed.Ed advised me professionally every step of the way of my journey. He didn't just introduce me to a school,he found out what I was specifically looking for in a new role and matched me accordingly.He is fast and efficient and that is ideally what I was looking for. I have used other agencies before but never experienced the type of service I received from Hourglass.
