About Hourglass Education

From day one, Hourglass has understood that our role is simple – to introduce the best possible teachers to schools offering the best possible roles.

 

Over the years, as well as getting to know hundreds of excellent UK teachers, we have searched far and wide to find high-calibre candidates for our client schools. This has taken us literally all over the world, and we have learnt a great deal about international relocation and successfully inducting overseas teachers along the way.

 

In 2019, Hourglass teamed up with Pertemps Professional Recruitment (PPR). This partnership worked from day one as we have a shared commitment to ambitious recruitment, operating with honesty and integrity and a passion for working with people.

 

We have now joined forces with PPR’s other education business, Pertemps Education Network (PEN). PEN continues to find agile, energetic and reliable temporary teachers and support staff for their schools. Hourglass’ focus is still specialist recruitment: permanent teaching posts, candidates from overseas, and leadership appointments.

I would like to commend all the agents who assisted me on this awesome Journey: First there was Nina and Claire who encouraged and guided me in the necessary steps to take to get here from Jamaica. Then when things got difficult at my previous school they encouraged me not to give up, showing me there there were other options available for me. Then there was Ed who was absolutely awesome in finding me a school that was a better fit for me. I appreciate the level of care and concern that was expressed so that at no point I felt like I was alone in the process. I had the privilege of working with two members of the Hourglass team, Holly Bancroft and Ed Hyland. The teamed helped me to secure a Science teacher position within the UK. I was in a dire situation looking for a school which would be willing to sponsor me to stay in the country and James was able to confidently take me through the process and eventually put me into contact with a school which was able to do just this. James offers a very professional, polite and humane service - he astutely understands the experience, credentials and needs of the teachers he is working with. He has matched me up with a school that aligns so well with both my past experiences and my interests as well as finding a school in which I feel at home, it was the very first school he sourced and I liked it so much I accepted immediately. Despite having almost a decade’s experience in education this was the first time I approached an agency based on it being highly recommended by another teacher and I have to say I was incredibly impressed. I can see why so many good schools are connected with Hour Glass and with long term to permanent positions - they clearly are providing schools with high quality staff in a way that is far more efficient for both schools and teachers. I would recommend them to any colleague or friend in teaching.

Without Josh Travis I wouldn't have found this school. Monday I registered with the agency and on Friday I accepted an offer. I received information about 6-7 schools in between, and I always felt I had a choice. The human side is very important for me, and Josh matched me with a school which resonates with my value system. He was there, answering all my questions, and soon I could take a decision. This way it was much shorter, much less stressful and I could focus on the professional side of the interview, which makes a huge difference. Amazing, outstanding job: many thanks for that!
