I am shocked at the reviews of this agency as I had experience working with them for almost two years and started my registration before arriving in the UK. The bad reviews all seem to be coming from angry ex employees and teachers who obviously didn't excel in the UK and are now blaming it on the agency. Timeplan is a large agency yes- but they have been around for ages and really were the best I dealt with. I have friends that used them back in the early 90s and they were the ones that passed them onto me. Please don't let the negative reviews from angry ex employees of the company sway your view on this agency as they are quite good. They work with a lot of good schools from my experience and their pay may be a little lower than other agencies offer but when you get full time work at a lower pay compared to part time work at a higher rate - it makes sense! Please if you have any questions about agencies or teaching in the UK do not believe the reviews on this site.. So many reviews are written by the agencies themselves or ex - employees and it is just unfortunate to see as it does not really give you a proper view of what it is really like. I am more than happy to talk to any teacher about my experience and UK agencies and I would suggest that you talk to people instead of reading electronic reviews as they just really don't seem justified. Comment on this post if you would like to chat about anything I would be more than happy to give you more realistic answers about teaching in the UK and the great opportunities that came about for me after doing so.

In my opinion the Tonbridge office is unprofessional and deceitful. I had an interview with them last October and on the strength of having a school that wanted me to go in on a free half day, they convinced me to pay for a new CRB. The school cancelled the day before and I have not had any interviews since. They called once but in terms of finding me any work, have not been in the least proactive. In fact I have had more contact from them inviting me to their social events where 'the first drink is free'. I just want them to reimburse me the cost of my CRB actually. With respect to the glowing reports above, given the quantity of negative reviews, which all list similar experiences, I am more inclined to believe those than ridiculously positive ones that look like they have been written by Timeplan staff.

Having worked in one of TP's UK offices I can understand where a number of these comments are coming from. TP has been grossly mismanaged for quite some time now and their office structure, where each office operates independently and in some cases in competition, the focus has shifted from "teacher welfare" to making money. It’s a case of “ship em in ship em out”. Placements go wrong because "managers" want to make as many placements as they can because placements equal money and contrary to what they say, TP managers are “on commission”. Come on TP, you used to be good.....but quite frankly you are s**t. Teaching Personnel in the 1990s and early 2000s spring to mind!

If you are thinking about coming to teach in the UK and working for timeplan... a word of advice. DON'T !!! Just don't do it. It may seem like a pretty picture is painted for you in the eyes and words of the agent but they are scam artists! They take advantage of the teachers they 'employ' and they are completely unprofessional in doing so. Stay away! Rather than going through an agency at all, just go through the TES website and just get a job straight through the school. It makes no sense having an agency make money off you. If you are a good teacher and legitimately can get work on your own (ie. have a brain in your head) don't play into this ridiculous game of teaching agencies. Think about it- no other country uses agencies that employ you after they recruit a position for you at a school. Sure, they should get you in touch with the school, but surely they should not be the ones that you work for. You should be working for the SCHOOL, not the people who sit behind their desks at an office that is 50 miles down the road. I urge you to get a job on your own, without an agency, if at all possible. I won't go into the full details of what happened to me or the other people I know that work for timeplan because I try to be professional, unlike some agencies. Just be very careful that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Check into the school's OFSTED results and make sure it is a school you are capable and comfortable working in. Schools are sometimes labeled as "successful and academic" when in fact, they have unsatisfactory ratings and are poorly run by admin. Don't let the agency fool you!!! Good luck to you.

After working in one school for many years, I decided it was time for a change. The first few agencies were absolute shocking and was even put of teaching. Then a colleague recommended TimePlan, weary at first I decided to go to interview and was truly impressed from the first moment the interviewer explained everything clear and precise. I went away with every confidence that my agent would find work, which they did a few days supply at first, then a full time position which I wasn't happy in at first and my agent and her manager found me somewhere new instantly which I was delighted at. TimePlan Kent has given me back my confidence in teaching again. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a professional and reliable service.

I really don't understand the previous listing as this can't be further from the truth. The "agent" that the previous comment refers to is my regularly port of call. I have found her to be very professional, personable, attentative and most importantly actively pursuing employment opportunities in my field of Secondary ICT (I had 5 schools in Kent wanting to offer me employment within a day of being interviewed).

Shocking. The Tonbridge office is specifically awful. I interviewed looking for work in Kent and my initial agent was absolutely brilliant. I was interviewed promptly and thoroughly by [name] and was made to feel calm and relaxed and I got accepted - great news! I was in contact with my agent nearly every day and she found me interviews easily and kept me in the loop. I've now discovered she has left the business and I'm now being left in the dark and not given any work. I'm a MATHS teacher and they have little to no interest. I have had one call in 6 weeks from a rude woman who deals with the Brighton side of things and I never want to deal with TimePlan ever again now my agent is no longer present there. It's like the voice of TimePlan is gone. Poor agency and even worse agents now!

I worked for Timeplan for a long time and would discourage others from doing the same. I started off on the guaranteed supply scheme which was good because I had work every day, but in a term's time, I only actually taught about 5 days because I was always working as a TA or at a day care centre feeding and cleaning babies. I very rarely was ever placed in my part of London, event though Timeplan has schools within walking distance of my house. I travelled upwards of an hour every day, sometimes on the overground way into the east end. They say 'max 60 mins" but that does not include walking to and from the tube and wait-times. As soon as my guaranteed work ended, I received a call to work for a day as a teacher in a school in my area- GREAT! When I arrived, I found out that I was actually TAing even though they told me it was teaching, so I got paid as a TA (which was almost half). In addition, I was once sent to a school that didn't request a teacher that day and never received an apology from Timeplan (how embarrassing). Many of my friends have had much better experiences with other agencies. Don't work for Timeplan. They lie and they do not value you. I think all teaching agencies are varying levels of terrible, but at least work for one that pays you well, because you won't believe the frustration you feel when you are working 14 hour days as a classroom teacher for Timeplan just to find out that your friend is doing daily supply for WAY more than you are making.

Timeplan in Tonbridge is absolutely shocking. For starters, they have not organised a social event (as promised) because the 'big' boss is off, galavanting across Australia recruiting staff for the following year. Excuse me, you currently have overseas teachers already in the UK seeking full-time employment, what is the need to travel to Australia and recruit more! I have made sure that the word gets around, do not use Timeplan! Furthermore, my agent was the most unprofessional worker. She failed to post my CRB and GTCE registration, and 2 months later I found out. She no longer works there, suprise, suprise! In general, teaching agencies are a money making scam, with unqualified 'professionals' with no/little educational experience, sitting on their asses promising work, and consistently telling lies in order to hang onto us. At the end of the day, teachers are losing out, as agencies and schools are squeezing every penny out of us, and paying us at a shockingly low rate. Timeplan = Timescam

I'm not impressed by TimePlan. I signed up with them as an ICT teacher in January and was immediately accepted onto the books after my references came back. A gentleman interviewed me and sung my praises. However when it came down to it all the promises were empty! They couldnt get me a job and I forever heard the words 'we are waiting for schools to come back to us' - which was a load of rubbish in the end. I never got a call into a school. Luckily enough another agency in Tunbridge Wells placed me for a position starting November 2011. I know of the schools on the Kent books but I don't feel that I had the support I could have had. The pay rates were low and the people in the office were very dismissive

To be honest, I have not had a single day of work from TimePlan so I cannot comment. I wouldn't recommend your agency to anyone, in fact I'd highly discourage them from using it. I moved here in September and was told there would be work, not a single day of work yet. I sent my references to Timeplan in January, then again in August because they were misplaced by Timeplan. I then had to redo all of the paperwork which was already done twice back in Jan and March. I am now hearing that Timeplan has not heard back from my references? I've contacted said referees and confirmed with them that they would be contacted to which they have informed me that they would be available. In addition to this, references that were not listed on my reference list were contacted, I received an email from a school principal from whom I barely even know and he asked me if "this agency was legit, I received a odd email asking about your teaching and I've never observed you teaching", as you can understand it is EXTREMELY unprofessional and embarrassing on my part to have a school principal contacted that I do not even know. It could negatively effect my reputation as a teacher in Kingston as it is proper etiquette to give notice and permission if I would like to use someone as a reference. Timeplan over stepped the bounds by contacting someone without my permission. I've decided to use another agency, and they had no problems at all contacting my references, in fact it took them less than a week as opposed to TimePlans 9 months. Timeplan has wasted hours upon hours of my time since initial contact in January, I would highly recommend being upfront and honest with candidates realistically informing them of expected work. Working with timeplan makes me question the organization and honesty of your company. Please take me off of your mailing list, it's insulting to get emails asking about work when I haven't had a single day. I plan to inform as many teachers as possible of these circumstances in hopes that they don't get there hopes up about work in the UK with agency by the name of TimePlan

I couldn't have worked for a better agency. I had signed up to many agencies but Timeplan was the only agency that really worked hard to find me a teaching position. Afterwards they kept in touch with me and the school I was working at. They were always very helpful and answered all my enquiries promptly. I found the people at Timeplan very professional, efficient and organised. There are many teachers at the school that I work at that have been placed there by Timeplan. All of these teachers speak highly of Timeplan and have been very impressed with them. I have now got a permanent position at the school I was placed at by Timeplan. A big thank you to all at TimePlan!

TimePlan are by far the best teaching agency I have worked for. They are incredibly supportive, extremely professional and 100% honest as regards the schools they deal with. The Kent office in particular are AMAZING. All the staff in the Kent office are friendly and helpful. They really go the extra mile to help teachers find jobs and to settle into the U.K. as best as possible. Paul Chuter in particular has an adept ability at matching the right teachers to the right schools, in addition, he goes above and beyond the call of duty to secure teachers jobs, to help them with their transition from overseas to the U.K. and if a problem arises you can definitely rely on him to get it sorted. I would recommend TimePlan to any teacher thinking of coming to the U.K. for work. Personally I would never bother dealing with any other teaching agency ever again. TimePlan Rock!!!!! A special thank you to the staff in the Kent office who have helped me to have a FABULOUS time here in the U.K.

TimePlan is HORRIBLE or at least the agent/ office I specifically dealt with is! (Kent office- [Name Removed]) I received two job offers that both 'fell through'. They are very misleading and misguiding. I had a job confirmed for three weeks (in the meantime I booked my flight and visa) and then I didn't hear from them in a while... I contacted the school to introduce myself as their new teacher and found out the position was never mine nor confirmed!!! I received a nasty e-mail from [Name Removed] and at that point I explained I do not feel comfortable with him or his agency. I hope no other person will experience this- be very cautious with this agency! Recommendation: interview with many agencies- luckily I still have work for September!!

TimePlan is a brilliant agency to work for! I have found all of the staff members to be extremely welcoming, professional and supportive. Prior to my arrival in the UK, they made me fully aware of what documents I needed to bring with me and I was able to commence teaching within days of arriving in London. I had no problems finding enough work as the staff regularly called me each day to offer me daily supply. They were also very responsive to feedback and regularly offered me work at the schools that I really enjoyed visiting. That is how I ended up working in a long term position at my favourite school for a year and a half. I really cannot say enough good things about the agency, particularly about Jen at the London office. She really went above and beyond securing my position at my favourite school. You would be crazy to sign up with a different agency!

I am absolutely alarmed by some of the comments on here. I came from overseas (Canada) with TimePlan, they were completed honest about my qualifications and the work I would expect to get. They never made empty promises but were honest and supportive. They gave me a realistic opinion about what SW London was like and the differences from my home country.   The SW London office that I worked for were friendly, encouraging - The ladies in the office even spent time on the phone walking me to the school when I got myself lost! When I was supply teaching I always got a call in the evening to see how my day went. They were 100% honest about the schools that I went to, the good and the bad, preparing me for my day.   After settling in and finding my feet with supply, UK system and grades, they secured me a great long term post in an independent school – I can’t believe my luck! Best off all office staff feels like friends and regularly check in to see how my position is going and visit bringing doughnuts to the school! Yum!   I couldn’t say anything more positive about the experience I have had with this company and the people I have dealt with.

I have dealt with both the London branch and the Surrey branch and have found both extremely helpful. They helped set everything up when I arrived and found me an 8 week placement almost right away. They also set up various interviews for long-term work and helped me prepare for them. I've just landed a permanent position. The staff contacted me regularly about work, and were a pleasure to deal with. Overall, great work!
