I think that Impact Teachers is doing a wonderful job at keeping in contact. They are very good at getting back to you at a fairly quickly rate. They are very helpful and I like how they have thanksgiving and socials for the teachers (even though I can’t go to them). Heather Gibson

My name is Julia MacNeill and I have been working as a supply teacher with Impact Teachers for the last eight months. When I came to London in September, I felt a mixture of both excitement and nervousness. I was indeed excited to start teaching and meet new people, but I was also quite nervous about living in a brand new city for the first time on my own. I had a lot of questions before I arrived: Would I be able to find a place to live? Will I be able to find my way around? How will I fit in with the schools? Luckily, my contact person at Impact Teachers, Stuart, gave me some great advice on where to live as well as what to expect as a first time supply teacher. He was able to answer many of my questions before I arrived, allowing me to experience a smooth transition during my first couple of weeks in London. Over my time with Impact Teachers, I have had the opportunity to work at several different schools, teaching a variety of different students from nursery to year six. I have met and worked with a lot of excellent teachers who have aided me along my teaching journey. As a supply teacher in particular, I have been able to develop strong classroom management skills and have broadened my knowledge of teaching techniques which I continue to develop each and every day. Working for an agency like Impact Teachers has also given me a greater sense of confidence, both personally and professionally. I continue to improve my skills in time-management and have developed a greater sense of preparation, organization and flexibility, skills which I will be able to carry with me in the future. Most importantly, I have had the opportunity to work with great students who have made my time as a supply teacher with Impact, a great one. Luckily, I have met some great teachers through Impact Teachers, many of whom have become my friends. When I am not teaching, I have had plenty of time to explore London on the weekends and I look forward to exploring the city much more during my time here. There is so much to see! Julia MacNeill

Moving to a different country is not easy but it is worth it, especially when you chose Impact Teachers! When I first decided to move to England I registered with Impact right away. They helped me through the long process of obtaining a working visa and called weekly just to check in. Once over in England they gave me a proper list of items to do right away this included setting up a bank account, finding a flat, and registering for a National Insurance Number. In addition, Impact had me in the school system supplying at week one. The employees at Impact are wonderful, genuine people who are there to help you right from the beginning. Danielle Verstege

As a recent teacher graduate, I am eager and excited to begin my teaching career. I have also always dreamed of traveling abroad, and Impact has provided me with an opportunity of a lifetime to accomplish both of these aspirations at the same time. From the moment I sent in my application, your staff have consistently been in contact with me regarding the next steps for me to take to make my dreams come true. I have always found it very easy to talk to the Impact staff on the phone, allowing myself to voice any of my concerns or ask any questions regarding what it would be like when teaching in the UK. When preparing for my interview with Head Teachers from the UK in Toronto, the Impact staff were there to provide me with assistance and helped me prepare so that I could be the most successful when answering their questions. At the interview, I felt more at ease and relaxed because I felt well-prepared and confident, thanks to the Impact team. After making it to the second round of interviews, the Impact team was just a phone call away when I had any questions regarding the school and its location, and were there to help me and support me with my decision. After being offered the full-time position at Hamford Academy, I know that I could not have done it without the consistent support and help from the Impact team. Although I am very excited to begin this journey, being far away from home is a bit scary. I had mentioned to the Impact team that I wanted to travel with my friend Laura Milne. Although they did everything that they could to help us go on this teaching journey together, there was only so much they could do. Perhaps some advance notice would have been helpful knowing that it was not a possibility that we could be living in the same area and together. Also, although I found the website on my own, I did not know for certain if the UK curriculum website was the one that the schools would be following. Some guidance pertaining to particular websites that would be helpful when preparing for the interview would also have been beneficial. After coming along this far in the process, I am anxious, thrilled, and ecstatic about this fantastic opportunity of a lifetime. Thank you Impact! Arielle Kreisman

I was living abroad and looking to relocate to London. I was sending CVs to schools, but not really getting anywhere. Then I found Impact online. I registered, which was very easy, and within days I had a call from a very friendly and informative recruitment specialist. I found the agents at impact very knowledgeable and they were completely invested in finding the right placement for me. It took a lot of the worry and stress away from job hunting. They knew what I was looking for, and asked all the right questions. They found me exactly what I was looking for! They kept in touch with me all the way through my transition, and I know that if I ever had any worries or concerns, they would offer support and advice. I have passed their name onto some friends of mine, and I would highly recommend them. They are, without doubt, experts in their field. Michelle Mullins

I worked with Impact a few years ago. I got my visa about eight months before I was ready to go to England (plans had changed), and the agency was super supportive and called me often to check in. The support carried on through the application process, interviews, my arrival in the UK (they picked me up from the airport and stored my luggage for me until I was ready to head to Kent - outstanding!)and my year of teaching (an Impact consultant even came out to my country school in Kent to visit the school and catch up with me a few months after I started). I had the opportunity to go to India with them as well, and it was fantastic! It was the trip of a lifetime and it's great to see that not all of the considerable agency fee the school pays goes directly into the agency's pocket. The only concern I ever had with them was that somehow lines got crossed when I accepted my job and I thought I was accepting a different position (subject) than what I ended up with, so make sure you're very clear about that if you happen to interview for a school that has more than one job open. I also didn't know that I could negotiate my wage, so I ended up with one that was a bit lower than what most of the other agency teachers seemed to be making. Overall, a very good experience. I'm now working elsewhere internationally and have dealt with several agencies, and the only agency that I would ever recommend anyone use is Impact!

Opportunities to travel have been amazing! The school year is broken up so there is at least one week off every six to seven weeks. This is great! I have a permanent position at one school, and I hear great things about supply work. I am making good money, and have lots of time to travel. Impact was very helpful when I first arrived. They met me at the airport, had computers for me to use, and had an address that I could use when registering with a bank. -Christine

I worked with Impact for about four months looking for a position in the U.K. While the best fit opportunity did not actually come out of the UK (or Impact) for me, I would be happy to work with Impact again should my needs change. They were quick to respond to my queries and consistent in communication, committed to finding me a full-time/contract position and offered a three-month renewable supply teaching contract should a contract position not arise before the fall school year.

This experience has been so different for me, but also SO WORTHWHILE. It has given me such a sense of independence and has allowed me to really discover who I can be as a teacher (that is of course still in development--but getting there). It has been REALLY challenging, but learning to overcome those challenges is making me a stronger teacher AND a stronger person. I love that I am starting to get a sense of the English culture (despite having the mickey taken out of me for my accent) and make new friends and try new things. I think Impact was great with getting me ready to come here. They were really supportive on the phone and on Skype. But I think the turning point was that briefing right before my interview. Having them grill me really made me feel confident and prepared before walking into the interview. Kayla Mazzolin, York University (Canada)

When I began to consider moving to England I began to investigate the different agencies. Impact stood out for a couple so many reasons, but the big reason was the international development. Everyday that I teach is a day that Impact provides education for a child in a partner school in a less developed part o the world. As part of my experience with impact I want to join one of the international development trips. My decision to come to England to tech was one that took a couple years to decide. Impact was incredibly helpful with answering questions that I had, but also by making sure that I was applying for the posts that I was the most interested in an best suited to my abilities. Vera Hew

My trip to Uganda was inspiring both as a traveller and a teacher. It was empowering to be able to watch the teachers apply some of the concepts introduced and the positive changes it made in both the student's attitude towards learning and enhancing the teacher's confidence in their abilities. I have taken home a greater appreciation for the impact we as teachers can have on education when given the opportunity to work collaboratively towards a common goal -Sarah

Impact Teachers was recommended to me by a friend who had used this agency whilst living in London. From the very beginning I found the staff at Impact Teachers to be warm, friendly, supportive and knowledgeable. I predominately dealt with a staff member called Rachael. Rachael would call on a regular basis to touch base and she was always contactable by email to answer any of my questions. She was always cheerful and helpful and I can not thank her enough for the amount of work she has done to help make my transition to teach in the UK an easy one. The agency provided me with information about living in London, my registration, organising my UK criminal record check and they have even found me a job before I arrive. They listened carefully to the type of work that I wanted and searched for a position that matched this. Overall I could not thank them enough. I am really looking forward to arriving in London and meeting the Impact team.

I have been supplying with Impact Teachers for nine months now and couldn't be happier with my choice of agency. I've already recommended Impact to a number of friends making the move to the UK and will continue to do so! Before moving to the UK, choosing an agency seemed like a very daunting task because I knew it would greatly affect my experience of London. I researched a number of popular agencies and chose to contact Impact because I liked the idea of teaching with a cause that extended beyond the classroom. After my first chat with one of their agents, I was sure I'd made the right choice! They were hugely helpful as I gathered all the necessary paper work needed for my VISA, teaching in the UK, setting up a bank account, finding a doctor and a choosing a place to live. I was worried that after arriving I may have trouble supporting myself since supply teaching can be unpredictable. However, my agent Stuart worked around the clock to find work for me and I quickly developed relationships with the schools that I now frequent. On the odd occasion that I am not pre-booked already I know that Stuart is just as concerned as I am that I get work that day and 95% of the time, I will. From the moment I found Impact on Google, it was a dream to participate in one of their outreach trips to work with local teachers in India. I'm happy to say that I was able to do so in February and the experience was nothing short of life-changing. On to Uganda in the fall!!

Hi everyone! I came to London a little over five months ago with the intention of gaining some teaching experience. Although making my way to London on my own was overwhelming and terrifying, Impact helped me every step of the way. They did their best to address my concerns and, more importantly, find me consistent supply work. Not only have I acquired great teaching experience, but, I have met some incredible friends through Impact with whom I've built relationships that’ll last a lifetime. I am very pleased with my experience working for Impact and would highly recommend those who are looking to teach and explore London to join the Impact team!

I was pleased with my experience coming through Impact. I felt like Allie got to know me personally and actually cared about finding the right school for me to work in. I always felt like she was on my side. The process of getting your first teaching job and moving to a new country can be daunting, but having one consistent person to work with was helpful. Impact broke down the steps into manageable chunks so that I didn't get overwhelmed. Best of all, the support continued in my first week in the country, and still continues with regular check-ins and helpful emails. Barbara Bassett, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (Canada)

Although I registered with several agencies at the university job fair, my decision to stick with Impact came because of the support I received from the staff. Throughout the string of legalities to be completed, there were phone conversations and e-mails with the reassurance that "we" would work things out, and that there was the flexibility to choose between full-time and part-time work. The knowledge that the Impact team member I was dealing with had also moved continents was invaluable when dealing with unknown variables in the equation. Every effort was made to ensure that the transition was smooth, to the extent of finding me a temporary place to stay. Kinglsey Colaco

Using Impact as a teaching agency has been great. Once I arrived in London I went into the office and did all of my paperwork there although, as Impact agents say and I'll admit, it would have been a far quicker process to organise these things from home. Once I was registered, Impact were fantastic in searching for a teaching position for me. They were in frequent contact with me regarding different schools so that I had a choice and they set up my interview/meeting almost instantly. It was such a great process that I actually had my teaching role before my CRB had returned, which is why, again, I encourage people to organise paperwork before travelling. I have been located at my school for a month and during that time my agent at Impact, Aeisha, has made regular contact with me to ensure my work is suitable and that I am supported in the UK education system. - Zarah Dare, University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia)

Working with Impact has been such a relief. Recruitment agencies have always seemed intimidating and bureaucratic to me. But with Impact, I always spoke with the same agent who really cared about what was happening in my life and my transition to London. I had to put off coming over to England for almost two years; I'm sure most companies would have given up on me, but I was never made to feel guilty about my setbacks; in fact they were even more supportive. Impact maintained great communication with me, the perfect level in fact, enough to know I was important to them but not too much for me to feel overwhelmed or pressured. I'm so grateful I now have a job in a really amazing school after only one interview. In addition, it feels fulfilling knowing that by working with Impact I'm also helping more children in Uganda and India. A lot of recruitment firms are for profit, I chose Impact because I wanted to work with people who were driven by different motives. They lived up to and in fact succeeded my expectations. So come across the pond; to the land of art, dramatics, universal healthcare, free museums, fabulous 'football', pubs, grocery delivery, cute accents, and the glory of clotted cream. Just ask Impact how.
