Work with them a few year ago. It didn't last very long. I had to chase my payment a number of times. The contract i was promised was changed mid way and hardly got response to e-mails. When things escalate they will just pass on to the next person to start fresh!

Tradewind are liars. Before I packed up my life and moved countries, they really sold me the dream over the phone. They said they could "guarantee" 4 days a week supply teaching, walk in and walk out, no planning or marking at £120 a day. However once I arrived in the country, they told me they could not guarantee any hours (despite them having told me they could on the phone) and the contract said as much. They also said they had no work available that paid £120 a day, and only had "cover supervisor" work available that paid £60 a day. Nobody had told me this on the phone prior to me leaving the country. I had already packed up my life and moved countries by the time I found this out. In my home country supply teachers always get paid the same whether they plan the lessons or not, however in the UK if the teacher plans the lesson and you are doing day-to-day supply then you will likely be paid £60 as a cover supervisor. In order to get £120 a day you will need to take on longer term supply jobs, e.g in your subject area. It would have been useful to know this before moving countries but Tradewind did not inform us of this and only focused on the £120 a day figure which they then could not offer on arrival. When my friend and I first met with Tradewind we asked them to recommend areas to live in Manchester. They recommended expensive areas in the city centre, despite us being day-to-day supply teachers / teaching assistants who had an inconsistent income and were not offered much work with them. Luckily we did not listen to their suggestions and chose somewhere far more affordable to live. Their suggestions felt very out of touch. Don't recommend expensive areas to people who you can only offer occasional £60 a day work to. My friend had been teaching Dance for 9 years and was primary trained, but Tradewind could only get her work as a teaching assistant in a SEND school earning £60 a day. This was after 6 weeks of them offering her no work at all and her living off savings and working in a bar. Tradewind told her not to tell the school that she had no experience teaching SEND students. They also offered impractical advice, saying never to have any physical contact with the students in any circumstances. The staff at the school told her this was not their policy and never had been, as this is impractical in this specific SEND environment. Tradewind should have known the policies of the schools they were sending staff into. She worked as a teaching assistant for 6 months and despite continually reminding Tradewind that she was a qualified teacher and wanted teaching work they did not find her anything. She ended up interviewing with 2 other teaching agencies because of being stressed with money. When she was offered a teaching job at the SEND school she was working at as a T.A, the school wanted to put her on a contract with them in May, which would mean she would get paid over the summer holidays and continue on in September however Tradewind said the school would need to pay them £4000 to release her from her contract with them. The school did not have this in the budget which meant my friend had to go without pay over the summer holidays. For several months I was only getting 1 day of work a week, sometimes only half a day which after paying for transport wasn't worth it. Because of money stress, when they offered me a longer term position in my subject area, I took this on and ended up staying there long term. I found out that the school was paying Tradewind over £70 a day fee for me. I think that is excessive profit considering once they had offered me the posting, they did not need to do any other work except send out payslips. Hardly worth what they were charging the school. When I began at this job it was initially for 2 weeks at £115 pounds a day in my subject area. When the school asked me to stay until the end of the year, my salary did not change despite doing all the planning, marking, meetings, CPD, exam marking etc. I then found out that another supply teacher at my school who worked for Tradewind was earning more than me, despite not having QTS when I had QTS. I asked for a pay rise after 6 months in the job (from £115 to £120 a day) and was given it. I don't feel like I should have had to ask for this when Tradewind had initially advertised the salary as £120 on the phone before I joined them, and when other people employed by them were earning this despite not having QTS. The only positive was our interactions with Kelly before we left our home country. She helped us with the paperwork, answered questions swiftly, and made us feel confident about the move.

Tradewind have been wonderful with me. They made the signing up process smooth while still being thorough. I was then mostly placed in schools that potentially had permanent positions available until, quite quickly, one worked out. The consultants were all fully briefed on my situation and preferences, and transition to permanent position is just about finalised. I have also been fortunate to have benefited from their relocation allowance which came, as promised, after 60 days work.

I have been working with Yolanda for the last few weeks and I have found her to be exceptionally professional and understanding. She listened to what I wanted; the types of roles and rates and acted accordingly finding great schools with competitive pay. I found Yolanda and Tradewind to be a stress-free, easy experience which I have happily recommended to a friend. Thank you for your help. Jake

I went with this company because my friend had a great time. They pressured me into a 3 day a week job when I wanted supply work. It was out of London (I wanted to be in London). They offered supply 2 days that I wasn’t with a set school but it was usually 1hr 30 to 2hr away and was always last minute calls. When I finished the year I said I was going to London and was looking at flats. One member told me not to go to one flat because it was too far and I wouldn’t get work with them. I never got an email back afterwards. I changed companies and told them. Never heard back. Recently emailed asking for a statement of service (3 weeks ago) no response from anyone.

I moved to London just a little over a year ago. Before I arrived, I had my job lined up and it was such a smooth transition thanks to Yolanda who had all the paperwork organised for me. I find Yolanda to be very professional in her role and goes above and beyond to assist wherever possible. She communicates very well and delivers on her promises. I would highly recommend going through Tradewind if you are looking for a job!

Fantastic company! I’ve worked for them since March 2019 in both Essex and London. I couldn’t fault Roger and Tim in Chelmsford or the schools they sent me too. Craig in London is equally supportive. Again, a brilliant array of schools. When working with agencies, the quality of the consultant makes or breaks one’s experience. If they listen and care, it’s great! The Tradewind staff I’ve worked with have been fantastic. I just wish the rate of pay on PAYE was higher :)

Avoid!! It depends on who your consultant is. Last year, I received excellent support from them, but since September they have been absolutely rubbish! I am very disappointed, I feel like I am just a number for them, they don't care about my needs.

Education consultant Mathew Giansiracusa at Tradewind Australia is a brilliant listener who is kind and calm when I need to discuss casual relief teaching experiences at the schools I’m placed at. Thanks Mathew for always considering the needs of the teacher and also for working hard to find bookings. -Belinda Spina
