I was hesitant to work for this agency as I had been told bad things by two teachers prior to moving to the UK. Although the school I was sent to was horrible and I never received my Australian police check original as promised, the staff at tradewind were helpful and professional. I think overall this agency is higher then many other agencies in the UK.

Yolanda Wilson and her team assisted me over the period of 3 to 4 months as I considered the difficult move to the UK. Yolanda was extremely professional in assisting me prior to and post interview and assessment at a wonderful school. She was consistent and timeous in her follow-up and ensured that I was always well aware of what was expected and what was needed with respect to documentation. As my primary concern was for my family, Yolanda was extremely understanding and mindful of my circumstances as I deliberated on taking up a post. Although I ultimately decided to decline the position, it was solely based on a preferential area which would be better suited to our family in being closer to a support base. Yolanda was the consummate professional in her understanding and appreciation of my unique circumstances, despite the many hours which she had dedicated to finding the right position for me. I also strongly recommend Tradewind Recruitment for their professional and friendly approach as they handled my documentation, provided guidance with respect the UK education system Etc. I cannot recommend Yolanda highly enough.

My initial contact with Tradewind was very positive, I spoke to a very knowledgeable gentleman called Ben who put my mind at rest in regards to supply and I agreed to join the agency. I registered just before the summer and the 2 ladies who completed my file and DBS were very helpful and keep in touch with me with every step of my registration. Once ready for work I had the unfortunate luck of being assigned to a girl called xxxxxx who insisted on talking down to me, I’m not who she thinks she is but she really needs to learn who to talk to people in a professional manner. For someone who I assume hasn’t worked a full day in a school, she thought she knew more then me with 16 years experience as a qualified teacher. Tradewind seem like a great company but unfortunately due to my experience with xxxxxx, I have now joined another agency. I wish the company always the best for the future but I feel that employing individuals like xxxxx can only hinder the Manchester’s team success in the future.

I started to work for Manchester Tradewind just over one year ago and I am so pleased I joined this fantastic team. It doesn't matter who you call in the office, everyone is helpful and friendly. My agent Bex finds me enough work on the days that I have availability- which is usually 3 days a week. I am provided with good information on the school's I go into, but generally I return to the same schools and build rapport with the teachers and classes. Tradewind is the only agency I have been with that provides weekly online CPD. I recommend Tradewind Manchester highly, they really are a great team to work for!

The Manchester office is great, worked with both Amy and Cameron and had lots of work in good schools. Cameron increased my rate to help me cover travel and childcare costs so I could work full time. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I've worked for Tradewind Manchester branch for over a year now. I like to work three days per week and I usually have enough days each week. The staff are all very helpful and a friendly voice is always on the end of the telephone. Particular mention to my Consultant Bex, who always gives me background information on the schools I am going into. The CPD webinar sessions are particularly useful allowing me to keep up-to-date with practice which supply staff can miss out on. I only have positive things to say about Manchester Tradewind and can't recommend them highly enough.

Regarding the London branch Its a bad agency that makes false promises , as an experienced UK teacher with 10 years experience registered 3 months in advance. The consultant Yolanda said "dont register with other agencies we are the biggest and can guarantee you work . Guess what, I only worked 1 day for the whole term. Plus the consultant kept on calling me on the wrong days for work and did not look at my availability. It horrendous service from such an established agency . Avoid

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON TRADEWIND RECRUITMENT - MANCHESTER OFFICE! Having worked in the London Office and transferred to the Manchester office, I feel was the biggest mistake I made. Ive had minimal to no work, the rate of pay is S**T, the schools you get sent to are bad. There is no communication from them. And they made a mistake over their payments to me which I was unaware of and when I was waiting for my pay to come in it never did. I phoned them to get told I wasnt getting paid due to owing them money as I apparently was overpaid which all my payslips and what came into my account doesnt add up to what they were saying. I received no courtesy phone call or heads up that this was going to happen. So from the week of work I did, I basically done for free. JOY :s Anyone up in Manchester, go to a different agency.

Better than some of the other agencies that I worked for, but still an agency only concerned with making money. I found it incredibly infuriating that whenever I asked my consultant Sofia for a higher pay rate she would always feed me some excuse such as "that's when you are doing cover work at the school 3 or 4 times a week" or "that is when you are covering your own subjects and not just doing general cover" or "this particular school doesn't charge that much", "blah, blah blah". I am certain that consultants all have a list of bullshit excuses to feed us Teachers right next to you at your desks when we actually ask for a fair and decent wage. I also was annoyed at the fact that she took advantage of my limited geographical knowledge of London and sent me all over the city, to schools that were over and hour and a half away. In Australia we don't have money grubbing teaching agencies staffed by so called 'consultants' who are little more than glorified salespeople, have never stepped foot in a classroom in their lives and view us Teachers as little more than walking dollar signs. As I am a provisionally registered Teacher in Australia I am on the lowest pay rate, however that rate of $303 a day, is still much more than any agency paid me. The most I was ever paid by an agency, (this includes Tradewind) was £140, and this was either when I was working really far away, or at a really terrible school. I should have received this as an absolute minimum pay rate, it isn't too much to ask considering most agencies charge schools £200-£210 a day and pocket the rest, and make us Teachers work through umbrella companies so they can keep their fees as low as possible. The whole 'agency' system in the UK is an absolute disgrace in my opinion as Education should not be about making a profit, that is both unfair on us Teachers and students. In Australia I am paid by the government.

I can only say positive things about Tradewinds (Birmingham branch). They have provided me with numerous long-term placements. Pam Rama, in particular, has worked tirelessly on my behalf.

I started working with Tradewind after I had a trial day and I got the job. In the beginning, the school seemed ok but I soon realised that the quality in terms of support, organisation and children's behaviour. When I tried to tell the agency my concerns, they didn't really listen. Mistakes were made in terms of timesheets. I decided to leave the school and I went on day-to-day supply and they never had work for me even though I called in the morning at least 10 days. When I told them that I wanted a PPA role, everyone said that it would be hard for me due to lack of experience or because these roles are quite popular. Some consultants sounded impolite and discouraging. It was only when I joined Smart Teachers that I found the exact role I was looking for !

I am so pleased I joined this agency! Sarah is so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I love working in the schools she's matched me with. I only like to work at most 3 days a week so usually I get enough work but some weeks have been less. However Sarah always tries her best to find me as much as I need - if the schools don't need people it's not really the agencies fault is it? Would def recommend Tradewind!
