I registered with Teaching Personnel Southampton at the start of term and have been extremely happy with the service I've received (I've been offered work every day!) Unlike my other agencies I find that everyone is happy to help and I'm not constantly told 'they'll call you back.' I would recommend!

I agree with all the negative comments on here. I am a recent 2015 graduate from a good university and signed up with Teaching Personnel at their main London Bridge branch. The male consultant told me that I had to make a payment of nearly £ 50 for DBS and was given the same impression that I would be promised work. I did so as I wanted to get teaching job and experience . However I have been waiting for more than 2 months but still my DBS has not arrived or been processed and no news of work from them. This agency is a joke and I would not recommend it to any teaching graduates or anyone with a good conscience. The male consultant kept telling me lies and kept asking for me to resend my documents. He said that he has been trying hard to find positions. If you sign up with them, expect bad communication, and poor excuses and weeks and months of chasing up your DBS and work opportunities. When you phone their london bridge branch to get through to them, do not expect an answer back. Please do not register with them as they do not treat wanna-be teacher graduates with respect.

As an experienced, retired teacher I have to agree with all the negative comments about shoddy treatment, poor pay and poor communication etc. I was made to feel bad because I refused to work for a whole day for no payment whatsoever, simply to secure a temporary contract for 2 days a week! When I was paid for work I had to pay out expenses for each day I worked for TP. Also, after 3 months without work I have now been told that I need to pay out for yet another DBS check.Give them a wide birth!

I waited 4 weeks for my police disclosure only to find out Teaching Personnel had not sent the documents out. My application was also delayed a week for for a staff holiday. Went on a course that was completely misleading and something that I will never use. (de-escalation) The certificate was the flimsiest sheet of A5 paper, hand written!

NOTTINGHAM BRANCH - I registered with Teaching Personnel back in June, I'd never worked with an agency before, had only recently graduated from university and was just desperately trying to get into work. As I'm reasonably inexperienced, with only a degree in English, work was slow, but the company did their up-most to get me experience and set up a couple of 'low-key' placements (as I'm hoping to get onto a Teacher training course, any experience was valuable) Safe to say they went very well, as a very under-confident person having a phone call everyday I worked for them for a 'debrief' was extremely comforting, and I could discuss what I felt went well and what didn't - and they would put their time aside to discuss my days in great detail. Emma and Graham go above and beyond their roles and I am very happy to be a part of another agency. After working with several other agencies, I can honestly say hand on heart Teaching Personnel are the best at looking after their employees.

Absolutely awful. They actively discriminate against teachers with a disability-I have email proof. They lie. They don't give you a copy of your contract. They just want to make the most amount of money possible. Some of the positive comments on here seem to be written by TP staff maybe?I have no idea why a decent school would use them. Just avoid avoid avoid! And all the best with your education careers.

I registered with this agency based upon quite good reviews from this website. I registered in a p/house which was a bit of a sign I guess. The team were friendly upon meeting which was pleasant. The registration did take a while but it always does and teaching references can be hard to capture I appreciate. At the initial registration I said I wanted to do CS work and enquired about the pay, I was told it was from 55-65. Upon the full registration i was told it was 50. I told them to forget it as it was on TA pay scale and not as understood at registration. Also at registration while i wanted CS work the manager suggested she would call me for SEN work. I thought it was an odd remark. They would call you not for CS but for SEN work that you have no background in or request to do. That was an alarm bell. They do TA and SEN work alot I gather. I was pleased to be registered and happily awaiting engagement. I was then sent SEN training emails and told of the 40 costs. I had no interest in SEN work. I declined the training. I received another training email which I didnt see the relevance of again at 30 reduced cost. I felt the CRB was a cost non refunded and then emails about SEN training. I had the rate below what was discussed. At no point did they seek to engage me for CS work. It was like registering with a job agency but they were not interested in your goals. They saw you as a candidate for SEN work. I write this for NQT's to see or experienced. It may not be the same experience for all candidates but look for the signs they want to make you a TA or a SEN. Possibly they would have given me lots of SEN work but that was not what I wanted. I would be open minded on TP but look at signs of leading you away from your goal.

I signed up with teaching personnel as I was seeking work as a Teaching Assisant. After registration which took around two months to complete I was offered a long term job working as an admin assistant in a school, I would have preffered a teaching assistant role but as I had been offered this and I enjoyed office work I took it. The man who I dealt with from the agency at the North east office phoned me with all the details and said would you like to give it a try on Monday see how you get on. I went in on the Monday and everything went well however the next day I went back again and was told they had cancelled me with the agency yet they hadn't informed me. The school by the way was 10 miles away from my home I had therefore wasted petrol and time going there when I was not needed. I then got in touch with the person at teaching personnel that had sorted the placement out for me and was told that the school no longer needed me. I can therefore say that I was used for a free trial which by the way I didn't know about and assumed I would be paid for. This company lie, are sneaky and i wouldn't go with them ever again !! The rate of pay is the lowest i've seen, discgusting!!

I last left a review in March. I have had no work at all.No phone calls, only e mails requesting referrals to teachers looking for work.Needless to say I can't recommend this agency to anyone.I notice that one comment here suggests contributors may be less than honest about references etc.I can assure them that in my case, and I suspect that of the majority, there is nothing deficient in my background. I know schools now have their own sources of 'supply' and stick to preferred agencies.Whatever the causes ,TP have given me no paid work since September so I would be wary of relying on them for regular work.In my case I am actually out of pocket- paying for a course irrelevant to me and doing a day's work for free.

Lowest pay rate I have ever had, the quality of Schools wasn't as expected (most of them had very low ofsted ratings); also I wasn't paid according to the bookings' agreements, wasn't informed about crucial information such as total working hours etc. Overall I would say that I felt that I hadn't been treated with professionalism and respect and that hurt me the most. I am very happy with my new agency at the moment so I realised that not all agencies are as Teaching Personnel.

In the end, no matter which company you work for in my experience, and I do work for teaching personnel Ltd, everyone has their own story. No one will admit that they have missed agency calls and work opportunities. No one will admit that their references are average which makes it harder to get work. You have to register with at least 2 companies. In EAST London it would have to be TEACHING PERSONNEL @ RANDSTAD ILFORD BRANCH. Teaching Personnel expect loyalty and candidate whom can handle abrupt, curt, straight talking consultation over the phone. You also need to accept that in the end no matter where you are sent either you click with the school or you don't. Either it works or it doesn't. Money-wise you have to be able to barter confidently and gently. Vote Labour 2015 and zero-hour contracts will be adjusted to support agency staff. I decided to give roughly 60/100 rating cuz in the end no matter who you work for the main difference between permanent and temporary work is, I guess, the pressure that it could jus end abruptly.

Signed on last year. Have had one placement which was not paid for as it was a 'trial' for schools for 'National TA day'----. I paid for a training course, an introduction to a specialism I had worked in for over 10 years. I was told this would help my chances of work. Alas this has not ben the case. So I have now paid for a training course and done a day's work for free . But the consultant is personable and friendly The rest is silence

Brighton agency: I'm a newly qualified teaching assistant. At the beginning it was good they promised me lots of work which I believed at the time! Since January I've had two days work one of which wasn't paid because it was a trail day! At the interview she told me because I was working I would be paid, I wasn't paid. I don't drive at the moment because I am learning and they always send me out of the area I want to say in. They offered to pay my travel, which they only half for. I wouldn't advise people to work for this company! I get paid very little. They always send me jobs for teachers or jobs which are miles away which I can't get to because it would take hours. There are better agency's to work for.

I worked through the Brighton branch and I found all staff to be extremely personable and helpful. Communication was great (both phone and email) and they were keen to find me long term positions, however I did decline these positions as the commute was both far and expensive (they told me they do not reimburse travel costs). All of the work they gave me was in primary schools, however up until joining this agency my main experience was in secondary schools. I was happy to do primary work though since it is a new experience and makes a nice change. (As a supply teacher, I found primary children tend to want to help you rather than be deceitful like at high school.) I was not offered work everyday but I did also decline work at times since I was working through another agency as well. My only negative point was the pay rate. I was promised a higher daily rate on my contract, but was paid less and told that primary bookings are paid lower. This was disappointing and I felt somewhat deceived but did not push the matter (interestingly, this is the complete opposite to my other agency where they pay higher rates for primary...) Overall my experience was good, but not one I would call amazing. However dealing with friendly staff made a big difference to me, especially when I compare them to the often rude, two-faced and self-interested staff at my other agency (Supply Desk if you are wondering).

having worked for teaching personnel the bigger they got the less they cared with new nasty staff who didn't treat you like a person and very little work despite being willing to travel ALL over London-dumped me when I eventually challenged them on lack of communication finally telling me a school I had gone to for 3 years on and off had complained on behalf of a teaching assistant that I was 'too hard 'on the kids-this TA was thet i'm their 'mother' type who took a dislike to me cause I treated a year 6 class appropriately and not like her babies -misbehaving yr 6 versus naughty 6 yr olds!I could tell the difference! So teaching Personnel after YEARS of loyal service DUMPED me on the word of a TA from a ''special measures' school!! DO NOT TRUST TEACHING PERSONNEL-Thanks to this site these unscrupulous agencies can be held to some account by US their 'raison d'etre' !

During my fist interview, my first impressions of them were good. However things deteriorated after a period of time. Rates of pay were very low, very rude to both me and my parents on the phone, lying and using decietful methods to tryand catch you out. Also they were always sending emails of no relevance to me. Never ever think about going with this agency!!

I have found the Secondary team in Bournemouth to be really approachable, transparent and effective at finding me work. From the word go, my consultant explained everything I needed to know in detail, identified the schools in my local area that would be suited to me and was really personable and friendly. Any questions I have had to raise have been dealt with professionally and I've been made to feel that no question is a stupid one. My consultant is really honest in telling me which schools are trickier than others so I feel I always know what I'm going into. It's clear from visiting these schools that they have excellent relationships with the schools as they all speak very highly of Teaching Personnel. If I had to criticize, I would say that having to travel to the office in Southampton is a bit of a pain and the pay is lower than other places, but this is certainly made up for by the service you receive and the amount of work coming in. I work when I want to work and they are always very understanding when I can't. I would recommend that any teacher in the Dorset area register with teaching Personnel.
