About Supply Desk

Supply Desk have been operating since 2002 when we launched the first agency management recruitment services within education, for school groups in the UK. This was delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Harrow in 2002. The service was ground-breaking for the time and within the first 2 years, savings of over £1 million were made across the authority, and teacher retention rates improved by 70%. We’re proud of our history as innovators in Education and our vision to be recognised as such is reflected in the many ways we try to help schools find the right staff. We now have over 14 years of experience and our focus today is still on a fair price and a ‘never-compromise’ attitude to quality. To help schools raise standards we know we need to find the best talent and then create the right match.  We do this by getting to know each individual school, their staff, their pupils and culture before recommending the right candidate.

A good agency, hard working and honest staff, especially Oli and Nikki. Due to my circumstances I have not had much work from them, but when I do it's with good schools. I would recommend them.

The Sunderland Branch are so lovely to work with. All the staff are so helpful and supportive, friendly with a good sense of humour. They show interest in each and every new assignment, and take on board the feedback I am able to give them. I get at least 3 days of work a week and more depending on the time of year. The pay is less than other agencies I work for. Some of the schools/academies are extremely rough, but I have also worked on occasion for nicer establishments. There is variety.

After joining key stage after 2 years of fostering key stage in s matter of weeks have placed me in maternity cover and trusted that I was worth my wage and good name. Staff are always there if you need them for whatever reason with a reasuring ear and a boost of confidence. In return I am looking after the company's reputation by working to hopefully a high standard. Looking forward to another long term placement in September

Very impressed. Coming from Australia they were very supportive and put in the extra effort to help me settle in the first few months. The agency regularly finds me work related to my field and they sort out any problems with with the minimum of fuss. I'd recommend this agency to new teachers coming in from Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

I'm from Canada and I was very nervous about coming over, Supply Desk helped me before I came over and also the Watford office have been amazing. I got met at the airport, driven to my hotel. The staff in the office were great very clear about what docs I needed. Had work straight away and called by my consultant after first day to see how my day went. Went to a social in London held by the overseas team and it was amazing best night so far. Highly recommended as a agency !!

Hove office has terrible service. When I went for my interview it felt like it was a joke. The interview room has paper thin walls and I could hear all the workers joking around with each other and even running through the hall. The communication since has been non existent with me having to chase after them via email and phone to get anything done. What a waste of time and paper work.

Hove branch used to be good under the old manager. New staff are rubbish and I haven't worked with them for ages. They still send me emails and texts about jobs - my emails and calls to them are never returned, so why do I waste my time? I have found another great agency to work with, so I don't need them anyway :)

The little work provided was in the crummiest schools in the maidstone and medway areas. I had already said that was too far for me to travel yet they still pester and then basically emotionally blackmail you by saying if you dont go the children will go without a teacher!! The agency act illegally as its now against the law to enforce people to fill out health questionnaires in the UK, which I wasn't aware of until after I had signed up, and told my shocked husband. In general they seem selfish and impatient, the offices were not very nice either. I wasnt offered a cup of tea on arrival where as I was at other agencies - just a cup of tepid water!

I worked through the Brighton/Hove Branch and there was ample work for me (usually 4 days per week minimum). Pay rates aren't fantastic, especially when you consider cost of living in Brighton is virtually the same as London, but they do pay more for primary than secondary. They seem to have the monopoly in the area, hence the amount of work, but this also means that you're more than likely to be sent to some pretty poor schools (of which there are quite a few in the area). You need to be very firm with the staff in this branch as they seem to be self-serving and care mostly about their own commission rather than your needs and will push you into doing what is best for them. At times I felt like I was being treated with contempt in quite a condescending and snide way. Wouldn't necessarily recommend them but as they are the largest agency in B&H area there isn't much choice if you are looking for a lot of work quite frankly.

The staff at the Hove branch are slovenly, unhelpful and disrespectful to the point of rudeness. They seem to be infected with an ideology that sees potential supply teachers as stupid and inferior beings.

I work through this agency but will not be after my current role ends, the Kent branch are terrible, pushy, rude and dishonest. Hays were better and Ive been speaking to Redbox who seem brilliant and they pay better and are honest about your tax not being part of the rate.

Although I have not rated pay as highly as the others, it is down to the clients as I know Emma and the team in Manchester do their absolute best to secure a good deal for me. I have never been out of work (unless I've wanted to be!). They try their best to match staff to the correct schools and always ask for feedback from teachers to help them learn more about the schools and their requirements. I would always recommend the Manchester branch - I'm sure the other branches are just as committed, but I've not worked for them :)

I worked with the Southampton branch for a year and had a lovely time. I was most impressed by the supportive staff who listened to any concerns I had and tried to rectify them. I never had less than 3 days a week of work.

Really supportive overseas team, offering a smooth transition from Australia to the UK. Having just graduated uni, moving to the otherside of the world was a difficult task and the staff at Synarbor Australia were empathetic and extremely helpful. When I got to the UK, this continued. My consultant called whenever she said she was going to and I had 5 days a week work - every week, before getting placed in a long term in a fantastic school. Great rates of pay and help when ever I needed it. Would highly recommend.
