About Supply Desk

Supply Desk have been operating since 2002 when we launched the first agency management recruitment services within education, for school groups in the UK. This was delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Harrow in 2002. The service was ground-breaking for the time and within the first 2 years, savings of over £1 million were made across the authority, and teacher retention rates improved by 70%. We’re proud of our history as innovators in Education and our vision to be recognised as such is reflected in the many ways we try to help schools find the right staff. We now have over 14 years of experience and our focus today is still on a fair price and a ‘never-compromise’ attitude to quality. To help schools raise standards we know we need to find the best talent and then create the right match.  We do this by getting to know each individual school, their staff, their pupils and culture before recommending the right candidate.

I love Supply desk as they seem to know your personality and what school would best fit you. The girls in the office will never flower things up for you and are honest about the schools they send you in too. When I've had difficulty in traffic they are totally understanding and will help you with locality of schools. They also have your back while you're in schools too. Calling in to the office is always good too as you normally have a nice little chat too. Highly recommend Supply Desk as an employer xx

I have worked with Supply Desk Canterbury over the last five years and have always found Katharine and her team to be efficient, dedicated, helpful and supportive. There has been a variety of work available to suit my requirements at any given time - long-term, short-term and individual tutoring - and I have never needed to use any other agency. I would recommend the Canterbury branch without hesitation!

Have been with the Canterbury Supply Desk (aka Synabor) for about 5 years but worked with the Manager. (Katherine) some 20 years ago when we both worked for a different agency.! They have kept me as busy as I want to be and have supported me in the rare occasion when I have disagreed with the way a school operates. They lay on many subsidized training courses. They are so good I have not bothered to register with any other agency.

Canterbury branch has been very good for me. There have been very interesting longer term assignments with good rates of pay and the usual day to day work. Staff are friendly and try very hard to find good deals. I have certainly had an excellent experience and would recommend this agency strongly.

I've been having to be a supply teacher on and off since 2013. I have worked with other agencies before I first registered with Supply Desk Canterbury and most of them were total diabolical, little work, changed rates or ignored for any work . BUT the Canterbury Supply Desk team under Katharine, are the tops and I always get asked if I want work, if I want a certain school and where I am going. I also know without any worries I will be paid and looked after. So if you want don't want a good agency, use Supply Desk Canterbury who are a GREAT!!!!! agency.......

I have been with Supply Desk for over 2 years and an very pleased to be part of their teaching staff. I have been working solely with them as they have provided me with enough work and have catered to my needs, especially after returning from maternity leave. The range of work experience is unparalleled, as is their availability and support. Furthermore, they offer the best rates of pay and strive to provide their teaching staff with higher daily pay if they need to commute. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for supply teaching work.

SOUTHAMPTON: Absolutely amazing, easy sign up and very friendly staff - couldn't be better. They kept me very busy with supply work with a variety of schools in the Southampton and Portsmouth area. I was found a long term supply role that was perfect fit for my personality and teaching style. I am very happy at the school and have been offered the chance to stay for as long as I can with a potential of a perm position. The rate of pay is very good and even though they have many many clients and supply teachers, the service is so personalised that you feel like you're their only supply teacher. I would recommend supply desk Southampton in a heart beat.

I worked with the East midlands branch (8 months) and greater London Havering branch (4 months). I agree with almost everything positive and negatively written about this agency here on this review forum but I disagree it's one or the other. For me it was just average. I found that there was work with this agency if I was willing to travel and I did and it kept me employed which I was grateful for. Some schools were great well resourced, respectful students good class sizes and supportive heads others whilst other schools were the exact opposite. In one year it balanced itself out. Service of pay was terrible the first 3,4 months and problems with the work guarantee but was put right after that. I had one agent that took an interest in my teaching and me wanting to live in the UK and a couple of others that took no interest. Some people are friendlier than others. At its best, the agency was able to provide 2- 3 month contracts after a successful interview with a school. At its worst, as an overseas trained teacher recruited at my University in Australia opportunities or help adapting to the UK education system were non-existent. In a year, I was invited to one training day (cancelled a week before) two teacher social events (cancelled last minute) and never got to meet or talk to another overseas or local teacher from this agency in the entire year. I felt that once I had arrived I had become part or a component of a drive to recruit as many teachers as possible into a local agency rather than joining as a teaching member of the supply desk team. Overall a year with this agency has been run of the mill average probably a conservative estimate; if you have seen or experienced better.

I worked with the Chelmsford branch and the manager is a bully, I have been shouted and screamed at down the phone when I can't make an assignment. They blackmail you and highly rude! also we were bullied into leaving "good feedback" on this site which you will notice that all the positive feedbacks are given on the same day- fake feedback is not cool!
