About Supply Desk

Supply Desk have been operating since 2002 when we launched the first agency management recruitment services within education, for school groups in the UK. This was delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Harrow in 2002. The service was ground-breaking for the time and within the first 2 years, savings of over £1 million were made across the authority, and teacher retention rates improved by 70%. We’re proud of our history as innovators in Education and our vision to be recognised as such is reflected in the many ways we try to help schools find the right staff. We now have over 14 years of experience and our focus today is still on a fair price and a ‘never-compromise’ attitude to quality. To help schools raise standards we know we need to find the best talent and then create the right match.  We do this by getting to know each individual school, their staff, their pupils and culture before recommending the right candidate.

Having used Supply Desk as a DHT they were top of my list for job seeking when I retired. I have had constant Tutoring opportunities since. My “ Handler” RW has looked after my interests and preferences in a sensitive and understanding way. Communication with him and his colleagues is always a pleasure. The organisation as a whole make me feel part of the team in spite of the fact that I don’t get to see them in person very often.

I have loved working for Supply Desk. Katherine and her team in Canterbury have been a joy to work with, having a friendly and understanding approach as well as a realistic understanding of life in the classoom. I have worked for them for almost 3 years and they have been fantastic! The team appreciate other roles their staff may have and plan and place accordingly. They have shown admirable honesty about each placement which has created a great sense of trust. I have recommended many associates to them as I know that teachers are taken care of. The social meet ups are arranged to ensure staff can meet and chat, as well as share information about schools. Would 101% recommend this agency to anyone looking to dabble in the world of supply teaching.

I came to find Supply Desk through the fantastic reviews of this agency. The Canterbury branch were fantastically helpful and really supportive. In my initial meeting they helped me go through the process and reassured me throughout (having had a bad experience at my last job and some time away from the profession). With one foot back in the classroom I have felt my confidence return and have been really happy with the placements the agency has given me. They have picked specific schools to suit me after the initial interview and I now trust their judgement implicitly for any future assignments. Thanks and shout out to Katerine, Hannah and Ryan for all the help and support.

I have been employed by supply desk several times in short employment gaps and now as a semi-retired teacher. They are utterly professional while still retaining a personal touch. Appreciated at 7am in the morning! They have also manage to provide steady amounts of work. Their rates appear to be better than many. I am happy to recommend them to other supply teachers. In their recruitment role, they found me an excellent full-time role that I held for 8 years until I retired.

Supply Desk were an incredible teaching agency to work under during my first year as an NQT. I had worked with Supply Desk for a total of a year and a half. Within this time, they had always been very supportive; understanding with regard to availability and had taken any 'life situations' at the timw onboard to help cater to my needs without any problems. They positioned me at a good range of schools, (England and Wales) to help broaden my teaching experience and secure a diverse approach to different learning cultures . The office staff had a brilliant response to my requirements and were easy to contact and communicate with. My reason for leaving was - I was successful in securing a full-time perminant job. However I felt horrendous that I had to leave such a great team considering they had helped me progress as far as I had. But like always the team were supportive I would happily return to Supply Desk as they stick to their promised rates. They did not try any 'snakey moves' like other agencies I had previously worked for. This was a shocking factor for the supply teachers that had been taken on by Supply Desk I had recommended. They had experienced the same unexplained wages problems that I had with previous companies. (Every week my money was correct with Supply Desk. ) They are an excellent agency, who work well with schools and their supply staff. I still recommend Supply Desk to current staff that I know are looking for agency work. I can highly recommend this agency to anyone.

I signed up to this agency back in August and they seemed really enthusiastic in getting me cleared to work and start getting me out in schools. Unfortunately that’s where my good experience ends. Since then I have had to chase them numerous times on the status of my work clearance. With always the same reply: ‘September is really busy’ I gave them the benefit of the doubt and stopped chasing them. It is now November and I haven’t heard a word from them. I understand things happen however silence is NOT the way to make your company look good. Just a quick email on what the hold up is would have been appreciated. I cannot comment on the amount of work as they still have not cleared me. Disgraceful company and if I hadn’t been with simply education they would’ve left me in a poor situation financially. Unfortunately they don’t seem to care for their teachers and their economic wellfair.

I used to get as much work as I wanted with Supply Desk (Brighton branch) now I'm lucky if I get one day a week. The staff are friendly enough but they took ages to process my application and I had to keep chasing them up. The rate of pay is average but it is still the same as it was 12 years ago!
