Lack of training at Plymouth branch they even moved office and did not tell their teachers at all. I went into the office only to be told by security that they had moved disgusting. I am a mature NQT who recently was told that it was obvious that Randstad hadn't offered CPD as It was apparent at interview. As a potential employer they were disgusted no training given by Randstad. I have never worked for such a distrusting organisation with no moral values and lack of professionalism. Stay clear I have brought this up with my union .

I work for Randstad Education in Liverpool and the team are friendly, helpful and approachable. The professionalism in the office is second to none and would recommend any one here for work. From the early days in 2009 as an NQT up to the present day with a few breaks in between. This team are a great professionals.

I did not specify my branch in the previous review. I am very happy with the quality of service from the Birmingham branch of Randstad and genuinely enjoy working with them.

I am overall very happy with the friendly, honest and reliable service provided by Randstad. The staff are amiable and listen to any concerns or queries I may have and respond quickly. They give me all the information I need on a school before I start, even if it is a last minute booking. I only wish that they had more work to offer me as they are an agency I genuinely enjoy working with.

Randstad education in Manchester, extremely poor and unprofessional customer service. They will maintain regular communication during the registration process and request that you complete a number of online training modules. I also had to bring my documentation to a local branch for verification. Once I completed this process, I heard absolutely nothing back from them or any updates regarding the post I applied for. I had to email the compliance officer involved on two occasions and they did not have the common courtesy to reply back. I rang the office on several occasions only to be told that the person I requested was out, on lunch or in a meeting. I was informed that someone would call me back, but to no avail (usual deflection techniques). I feel duped by this agency, who in my opinion lack integrity and professionalism. I would definitely not recommend this agency certainly best avoided.

The promised me much more money than any other agency but then didn't offer me any work that met my requirements. I was looking for short term work in Leeds and all I got sent long term work in Halifax and Bradford via emails that were clearly on a general emailing list. When I signed up I brought all my paper work to the interview but then received emails asking for the paperwork for about a month. When I phoned up to ask about this they said to just ignore the emails. When I told them I want to leave due to poor service they didn't acknowledge my email but I have not heard from them again. Much happier now at other agencies.

I wouldn't recommend Randstad to any of my colleagues. I recently applied for a permanent EAL position at the Chester branch. I also expressed an interest in signing up to the agency for temporary supply work. I was told by the Recruitment Consultant that my position was favourable and they would be putting my application forward to the school. I waited some time and contacted the school directly who told me that the position had already been filled well before my application was submitted. The agency had advertised a job that had already been filled and given a client false hope regarding the position. I'm still waiting to hear from the agency regarding whether I have been cleared to work having provided all the necessary paperwork. Honesty and clear communication go a long way in judging how professional and ethical a company are. Sorry Randstad you have gone down in my estimations.

At first I thought Ranstad were great. They got back to me quickly and were able to get me some work. They interviewed me for a permanent position and said that I would begin with a trail only for the school to tell me that I was never put down for a permanent position. I would have to reapply through the website. This was frustrating but I over looked it and reapplied and fortunately got the job. There rates of pay are considerably lower then other supply agencies. The worst impression Ranstad left on me was when they over paid me by a very small amount and then proceeded to bombard me with threatening letters to pay the money back. It was their mistake in the first place. A simple polite phone call would have been more appropriate to fix their mistake.

Randstad Plymouth not a very nice office to deal with. The agent who was supposed to be signing me up was rude, disrespectful and offensive. When I questioned his conduct towards me, he decided not to register me, without once meeting me, or following up any of the references, I supplied from many local schools. I took my complaint to the highest level internally and still Randstad, will not come to any kind of solution with me. I have told them I will take legal action against them, as I will not be held to ransom by workers in an agency that is unregulated. It is time that all Teaching Agencies are regulated by the Government. They should pay Teachers to scale, by law and treat then as professionals and not commodities. How can it be that I could be working for an agency for 2 years and my pay will NEVER go up, in 2, 5, or even 10 years! I was paid more on Supply in 2002, than I get as a daily rate now. So who is profiting, from my hard work? The agencies and only the agencies. Agencies should be forced by law to make provision for Teacher's Pensions to be paid and a retainer payment should be paid to cover the holidays. A Teacher's CPD should be properly addressed and the cost of this paid for. I fail to understand the role of agencies in Education, as they are certainly not working on behalf of the Teachers, or the schools, they are merely 'middle men' in the same way that 'estate agents' operate, for their own profit only. Sadly, Teachers like myself have little choice but to use them, if we want to work, as schools, here at least, will not employ their supply staff directly. Back in 2002, many schools were doing this and I could work with them directly, without a 'middle man' skimming off their own payments, which vary from school to school and assignment, to assignment. We have to pay for our own DBS checks and one agency refused to help with my ongoing CPD, even when I only asked them to pay half of it. The training I needed, would have given me a second specialism, and made me more able to work, thus earning them money, still they refused. The fact that agencies like Randstad can refuse to sign Teachers up, is shocking bad practice and I am afraid that they and their 'agents', are in the main 'office' staff, who have never worked in a school. They have little idea, how difficult being a Supply Teacher is, but why do they have this power and control over us? It should be the other way round. An agent should be working for me, to get me work, not to line their own greedy pockets. I can't wait for the day when all Teaching Agencies are closed down for good, and the control of Supply Teachers goes back to a regulated Government Agency, as it should be. There is no place for profit making Teaching Agencies in Education, as they are making up their own rules as they go along, mistreating Teaching Professionals and some, like Randstad Plymouth, are nothing but 'cowboys'. There is no form of redress, when things go wrong. If you dare to question them, or stand up for yourself, they get rid of you, don't give you the work, or refuse to sign you up. I have had other agencies lie to me about schools, lie about available work and lie to schools about my availability, on my behalf! They have put me on a long term assignment, then taken me off it, for no good reason, (the school wanted me, the agent put another teacher in instead of me, then lied to the school) then I lost work, money and credibility. The issues I have raised need addressing by the Teaching Unions and by the Government and these agencies should be stripped of their power and the hold they have on both Teachers and schools, countrywide. Avoid Randstad Plymouth at all costs.

I have worked with them for a year or so and found the work more than satisfactory Having received an offer with another agency for work, I lost contact with them until earlier this year when I called the Crawley branch to make myself available. Within a few days I had a permanent contract. Great team at Crawley

Plymouth office - EXCELLENT! I signed up with them as an NQT and immediately got a wide range of work within my preferred areas. In fact, there was so much work I got a choice of where to go! The team were exceptionally well organised, I was paid on time and not once did I have cause to complain. Within weeks they'd had me booked for a full-time position and were always pushing up my pay at every opportunity.A genuinely faultless branch of Randstad!

Inconsistent work & pay. Theyasked for DBS when I started but didn't check it, when I asked to update one due to work in a different area they said we don't do this.Despite giving areas I could cover due to travel expenses they constantly allocated work at a distance even when local work available. They got work placement wrong so expenses incurred by myself. So many issues found other agencies with much better standards.

They could find me work but never close to home. Rate of pay was standard but never improved. The women were very pushy and always made you feel like you were letting them down if you couldn't work that day or for a particular rate. Hard sell made it stressful for me.

Having worked for the Liverpool branch I would say I am reasonably satisfied but I wouldn't highly recommend the company I would opt for the likes of Capita or Teaching Personnel over the likes of Randstad. I feel that Randstad really dont know their employees. They would often offer me day shifts working in nurseries when this did not match my experience of aspirations whatsoever. Another issue I feel that needs addressing is the attitudes of staff. Whenever I negotiated pay I would be bogged off with a standard "yeah but no but yeah no but yeah wish we could pay you that but yeah we are losing money" then to find out a lesser qualified teacher was earner said pay rate. You do however get a good amount of work and then primary schools are generally good quality.
