I'm really surprised to see the negative reviews on here. I have been registered as a supply teacher with Hays in London for almost two years and they have always been very professional and straight with me from the outset. They have consistently placed me in good quality schools. My main consultant, Nirenderi, has always been very supportive, reliable and easy to communicate with. There has also been useful CPD as well, in the form of free seminars. There was one on behaviour management which I found particularly helpful.

I have had an excellent experience with Hays. All the recruiters who are in my part of the country have always found me a suitable position. They listen to where I want to go and how much work I want and this is a refreshing change as I have not experienced this with other agencies. I am regularly kept in the loop, and they take the trouble to look ahead for me and book me for schools with whom I have a good relationship. They have been most accommodating and I am very grateful and thank them for keeping me as busy as I choose to be.

I got in touch with Luke Hallam and he found me more than one contract for the term within 24 hours. He was working for me before my paperwork was in and has not stopped. He negotiated my pay with the school I chose and dug his heels in and stood up for me to get me more pay than they wanted to give. He has filled out pay sheets for me and kept up with me, with a great sense of humour, all along. I registered with 2 other agencies on the same day, and they both got back to me just last week (a month later) to 'discuss some possibilities.' I recommend Luke and Hays and will always use them in future.

Shame I cannot give a zero to the London Branch in Victoria. Registration process is endless and they tend to lost the papers (copies) you provide and they dare to contact you a month after that they couldn't clear your file as they needed a proof address. Then they have this health questionnaire which is full of nonsense questions. They even want to know where you travelled and the dates like which I found absurd. Maybe they should add "how many times you go to loo? " They pretend to be a serious agency by having these types of procedures but actually they are just a bunch of i...ts making you waste your time. Avoid at all cost this agency!!!!

Such a ridiculous company.they promise me for term work on registration but they didn't even they didn't provide work regular basis, The behaviour of consultant is really rude.once he send me in a nursery school which was 9.5 miles away from my place, I denied to go and my constant said he will provide me any work next time. I being late 1hour,he said he gonna be cut £10 from my daily rate, also I agree on it but later he said he don't want to pay me.i send my 8hours in the nursery. I will highly recommend people please don't register with hays.

They called me after seeing my CV online. I went to interview where I was promised that I would be found work quickly. I got absolutely ZERO work from them. When I was offered work it was miles away from where I lived (4-5 hour round trips) and due to my situation I could not travel very far which they knew. Never responded to any of my emails. Also I never received my DBS certificate from their DBS check nor was I provided with tracking details for it. If I had of got work they would have deducted £45 from my pay for a certificate I never received. Wish I never bothered joining them. Ended up finding permanent work by myself. Avoid!

If I could give 0 I would. Waste of my and referees time, registration process really long at Victoria branch in London, felt like I was applying to work at the NASA. Health questionnaire with questions I had never seen or thought. Being asked for same papers more than once. They asked me for 4 referees which have been harassed over tge phone or mail, I am so ashame to ask them for references now. All this effort and time investment for nothing, after 2 months, not a single day of supply. Forget avout them, you will be better off with another agency.

I joined the Huddersfield office last year after they contacted me - I had placed my CV online and had forgotten about it. Some of the details were out of date but I went along to the interview and sorted it all out. It took a long time for the agency to get me on to their books (chasing my references) but they did finally begin to get me work. It was a little slow at first but it picked up. I had an issue with pay as I felt I should be getting more than I did when I was an NQT and that was put up a little. My first consultant was a nice girl and did get me some work but when looking at long term roles would send me for interviews out of my comfort zone. After a few months I had a new contact at the agency who is amazing. She managed to get me a long term role and raise my pay which was brilliant. She is approachable and I know I am able to talk to her and raise any concerns. She is on my side if anything happens. She frequently rings just to check how I am and to make sure there are no problems. The Huddersfield branch is very friendly and they have frequent get togethers, coffee mornings, during half terms so that the workers and consultants can get together to just have a chat and feel like we are part of a team. Much better than having just a voice on the phone! I have had a great experience with them unlike with previous agencies.

As a supply teacher who had lost her mojo, I was made to feel like a low pay justfied the 'dip in' role as they said 'supply teachers just deliver the lessons. Period' I think their mentality is to work predominantly for the school and the teacher very much second. They never offer good rates and always justify it that you have to do the planning to get the rate you're qualified to do. They don't get back to you when negotiating on a job and I have to do the chasing. Really wanted a pt role and they gave it to someone else as I wanted £5 more per day! Not professional.

I registered with the Manchester branch at the end of May and sInce the beginning of Sept the consultant has ignored my calls and emails. I have heard nothing from them regarding possible work, absolutely hopeless. Other agencies have contacted me at the end of each week to enquire about my availability. Far more pro active. My advice - avoid Hays.

After 15 years of teaching I signed up with Hays in their Reading Branch to do some supply work. I have to admit I was very nervous about supply but I now have a 3 day a week temporary job in a lovely school in Reading. It still means I can do supply for the other two days so I can still experience different schools. and my consultant is very helpful with everything! I signed up with Capita as well but have found that they don't care about their teachers as much as Hays do. She calls me regularly to find out how i'm getting on and helped with my time sheets when I was unsure of how to set them up. I do have to admit their time sheet system is quite difficult to set up but I was guided through it initially and now it's straightforward to use.

After 3 years working for Hays Education (Bristol branch) I'm at the end of my tether and won't be going back to them after the summer holidays. When I first started with them the consultant was very experienced and excellent at his job. I worked every day (albeit in a few really unpleasant schools) and had several longer term assignments, although they always seemed to make sure it was less than 12 weeks so that they didn't have to increase my pay. However, after about 18 months he was promoted and since then has been replaced by a succession of incompetent fools who cannot do their job properly. They are also dishonest about staff changes, the person I was dealing with suddenly disappeared but for nearly a month other people in the office avoided questions about why she wasn't able to take calls or answer emails. Their new favourite thing is to only find me afternoons of work, which I get paid £35 for - not worth the time or petrol, or to ask me to go to schools 30 miles away for half a day. Communication is also very poor and several times over the last couple of months I've turned up to schools that aren't expecting me, so I've wasted petrol getting there and also don't get paid for the day! They're just shocking, avoid at all costs, there are plenty of other agencies in the area that surely can't be as bad!

I've NEVER had trouble finding work - until I encountered Hays. A busy science teacher, I went out of my way to attend their interview / application. Rushed off after school, had to catch two buses etc. They assured me they'd have lots of work for me and I was an asset. After a long wait with no follow-up, I sent three emails to various people and got NO response. Called and was told I had to wait longer (!). I gave up on them. Months later, they have the audacity to contact me to recommend fellow teachers. I shared the thoughts I am sharing now and told them never to contact me again.

A waste of time!A waste of petrol! I signed up in feb and was promised once application complete they would have no problem getting me in a school as there were a few vacancies in my areas. Heard nothing after a few weeks rang them and the man that signed me up had left and they were trying to complete my application asap. Heard nothing since! This company has bad communication skills
