Worst agency to work with! Do not work with this agency, you are better off with Redbox/Vision. (Daily rates are better and the staff are amazing.) I have worked with HAYS for 4 years and the first 2 years were amazing, Adriana was my consultant and she left I was then given XXX The management is poor. Absolutely ridiculous company. Pay is rubbish. Treatment is rubbish. After 4 years I’m glad I’ve left! Please do not use this agency. Rubbish!

I signed up with Hays about three years ago. The man who interviewed me was very friendly and after signing gave me regular work and mostly pre-booked. Six months into working for Hays this man, who had interviewed me and kept me working, left. The new guy who took over still got me work but not as much as before. I put this down to the changing of the guard. Over this summer my P45 turned up out of the blue from Hays. I called Hays to see why they had sent it as I was still working for them. It turns out yet the other guy had left and another new guy had started. He told me that he did not know why they had sent my P45 and he would sort it out. He also asked me to scan my new DBS and send it in, which I did. He added that he will get me working. However, I have not had a single days work off them since school started back in September. I called them and got fobbed off. I recently sent an email, which has been ignored. Definitely not recommended.

DISCRIMINATION... I went through the whole rigmarole of filling in forms, getting checked etc... When it came to getting me any work, this agency was appalling, discriminating against me and unresponsive when it came to informing me. I received several calls from different agents who questioned me about my details, obviously not observing the DPA! They told me that they would try and get me some work in the schools/area I had put down on my application-preference, however, I received a call from a SM of staff who I knew and they told me that there was a long term position at their school for my specialism and I would be the ideal candidate. He told me that they advertise through Hays, and when I contacted Hays and asked/informed them about this, they told me the position had been filled....what a lie, the advert had not even been presented to them as yet? I am a Muslim women wearing. Hijab and the school is Catholic, and my specialism is English up to KS5... In the end I got the job through applying directly AVOID HAYS...Birmingham Branch

When Hays approached me, they sounded excited and invited me to interview in their Coventry office. After the registration process and during the interview, their senior consultant introduced me to the young lady who would be dealing with me. She was new. During the interview, I specifically made it clear to them that I did NOT wish to work with children with challenging behavior due to previous experiences. They told me about a local school, singing its praises and how wonderful a school it was. I was suspicious about their motives, but eventually agreed to work at the school as a TA. Hays lied to me and I ended up chasing a young lad around the school who wouldn't remain in class. He accessed areas of the school by climbing 6ft gates I had no access to since I wasn't given any keys or information about the student. As an autism specialist diagnosed him as being ADHD and dyslexic since the school had not done so. I ended up leaving the school. This same new consultant then contacted me, offering me a placement in another school as a key worker, offering more wages than TA's, again assuring me that the children did NOT present challenging behavior and describing the school as `relaxing and calm'. I attended the interview with the head teacher and he was very impressed with my experience and background. The following day, the excited consultant from Hays called me with an offer of a lesser role with less wages. As I had been lied to yet again, I accepted the position only so that I could confront the head teacher about the deception. On the first day, I was joined by two new TA's, both sent by the same consultant and told the same about how great the school and children were. We spent the day completing induction information in a very claustrophobic office in a very small school. It was difficult to do this since all day children were kicking in doors, vandalising property, attacking and injuring staff, shouting obscene language, and hurling cruel personal abuse at staff. Staff carried security radios and restrained the children. One of the new TA's with 17 years experience was kicked in the morning and was visibly upset that she had been lied to and deceived by Hays. She vowed not to return. This was a third time Hays had lied to me and lied to the two new TA's sine the three of us shared what we had been told by Hays. Hays are dishonest and deceitful charlatans and have absolutely no morals or ethics. They care about nothing but profiting from misery.

Encouraged by my union (ATL) to register with them. What a wasted effort. Fortunately ATL have since ceased to endorse them!

Horrendous experience from Hays in Preston. The consultant was unwilling to obtain references from other agencies. I later found out that this is because Hays do not give references themselves to other agencies. They also alleged that they were unable to secure a reference from a school in which I worked in a timely fashion and blamed it on the school. This was in fact not the case . Despite being on £130 per day with other agencies, they also offered me £100 per day. I have been teaching for 5 years...They did not find me any work at all. NONE FOR THE WHOLE YEAR!! If you want to work for a good agency in East Lancashire, then try Just Teachers in Skipton - they are fantastic. AVOID HAYS IN PRESTON - USELESS!

Got a job as school support staff through Hays Manchester. I dealt with a young man there who was a total 'player' (I think this is the trendy term used). He seemed to be totally lazy, incompetent, inefficient and unprofessional. My DBS was not done until 2 weeks after I had registered, no contract nor information was given to me when I registered with them, he was generally useless at keeping me informed of what I needed to know before starting (P45 info etc) and he even relayed inappropriate info about me to the school I was supposed to be working for. I even think he lied to them about my capabilities! Avoid Hays Education Manchester at all costs.

I applied to this agency in October 2016. They do not return phone calls or reply to emails. They claim to have checked my references and DBS. The DBS has not been checked. It is impossible to get through to anyone in a senior position. They came highly recommended by supply teachers but the Preston branch is failing them.

I have recently recommended working for Hats through their Brighton office. Danielle has been enormously helpful, very efficient and has arranged supply work which has exactly matched my skill set and my requirements. I have been impressed by the training opportunities I have been offered and feel that Hays has exactly the right approach when matching teachers and schools. Really happy to be working for such a professional organisation.

I wanted to thank you so much for your key role in finding me not one but two roles which have perfectly fitted my aspirations, ethos and changing situation. Finding a teaching job isn't always straightforward, and for all sorts of reasons (in my case family commitments, finishing a Doctorate), teachers might not be in a position to follow the conventional application process at certain times in their lives. Job seeking can also be extremely stressful. Negotiating the 'right' match between individual and school with such a diversity of choice out there can be extremely tricky and potentially disastrous if the match is wrong. So, having someone fighting my corner during this period has, in itself, been of huge value. In addition, having someone at the end of the phone (at all sorts of bizarre teacher-friendly times!) with time to really listen to my concerns and priorities and to take the time to work out what I stand for and match me to a job accordingly has been incredibly valuable. On both occasions, I feel the match between me (my values, experience and priorities) and the school has been really well considered and thought through. As well as this, I have been so impressed with how you have negotiated a role that fits exactly what I'd hoped for at each stage. I am very excited about he journey ahead and in debt to you for your role in it - without you, it wouldn't have happened. I have some idea of the demands you must be under in the current climate (and the long hours you work), yet you have approached this task with dedication, utmost professionalism and tireless hard work and I am extremely grateful to you. I am recommending your work to everyone I know! It's a bit like going to a good dentist - I hope this will set me off on a prolonged and happy stint which will take me through the next few years and I won't need you for a while, but also know that if I do need to call on you again, I will be in excellent hands.

The Hays UK staff were professional and helpful, assisting me with the much needed information for an easy transition. They provided me with not only amazing career, however also life experience. Nirenderi in particular, looked after me and even made a call after my first teaching day to see how I went! Hays was flexible as an employer - (I still manage to travel around Europe!), and I was exposed to a wide range of schools as a supply teacher. From an administrative stance, pay was always in on time, and if the pay slip was incorrect, it was always sorted quickly, without the need to hound them!

My experience with this agency has been absolutely stellar! All the consultants I had contact with were polite, confident, and knowledgeable. Tobie Costa worked very closely with me and understood my specific needs, and took great care in handling my case! He maintained constant contact with me to ensure I was up-to-speed with all developments, which I really appreciated. I'm very glad I met him and was able to work with him!

Hays found a job that was exactly as requested - a cycle ride away from home and at two days a week. They have also been very helpful and accessable with any questions I've had.
