I've worked with two departments in Classroom, and they've both been consistently friendly and helpful. I'm happy to recommend Classroom

Nice people but gave a lot of false hope and impressions to new mostly Canadian teachers. If you are new overseas teacher please do not buy into their whole loyalty scam. Look out for yourself and join up with more then one agency if work is getting thin.

I didn't like this agency very much at all. They had very little work for me and sent me into Zones 5 or further. Traveling 2+ hours to and from work is not fun! The accommodations they provide for teachers are very expensive for what they are; dirty, small, uncomfortable. I've switched to Protocol (and moved out) and am a lot happier now!

[Name] is a joke. All she does is give useless information and definitely makes false promises before you arrive in the UK. Then once you arrive in London you are no longer her problem and sends you to the London office who are surprisingly worse than her! I would never recommend this agency to any teacher wanting to work in the UK. There are FAR better agencies out there.

I have worked for Classroom for coming up to a year as a primary teacher doing day to day supply and a few block bookings. The primary team have kept me busy with work throughout my time and on the rare occassions that I have taught a tough class, they have always warned me in advance. The primary team are approachable, helpful and have always been there for me with a listening ear when I have had a problem or issue. I have been sent to some good schools during my time with Classroom and my supply teaching experience has been a great learning curve for me.

I wouldn't recommend this agency. The agents are rude and not sympathetic at all. The pay is not worth the hassle they put you through. [Name] show serious favouritism and will get agents to find you jobs only if you suck up, then she'll tell you not to tell the others. The politics at Classroom are ridiculous.

Classroom is a smaller agency, and while it doesn't offer guaranteed work schemes and the wider range of schools like some of the larger agencies do, I think my experience would have been a much more difficult one without the good things that Classroom offered. The social networking/blog that connected me with teachers who were also arriving around the same time, and the access to accommodations when I first arrived gave me an instantaneous support group/friends that I don't think I would've made so easily without them. The Classroom office, in my experience, was quite good and the Secondary team very professional and friendly. Was placed in a long-term position at a school in Northwest London (zone 3) fairly soon after arriving that I stayed in for the entire 2 years, so can't comment too much on the variety of schools, but I was very happy there. If you are intent on doing daily supply, there will be a lag in work in Sept/Oct. Teachers aren't yet sick/tired and their PD courses haven't kicked up yet, so there are less school absences. Overall, my experience with Classroom was positive and would recommend it.

I'm also totally unsatisfied with the false advertising from Classroom. Essex is not London. The pay is ridiculous compared to other agencies. Not good enough in general. The PD sessions are useless.

Just okay. Victoria encourages new teachers not to worry when you first arrive and there is little work. She encouraged me to check RyanAir and use the time off to travel a bit before work picked up, which is completely unpractical given I had no money to spend, since I wasn't working. When I did go and sign up with another agency, the head of the Primary team, Matt, lectured me about loyalty and how these other agencies do not care about me as a person. Unfortunately, I can't hold my loyalty to classroom as #1 if I have bills to pay and am not working enough. Eventually, the work picked up (at the end of October). Had I not sought out additional work through another agency, I would have likely returned to Canada, as I simply couldn't afford to live in London without some form of income.

I have been working with Classroom teaching agency since I arrived and I haven’t looked back. I have had regular work and taught in some really good schools (mostly in East London). They have always been honest and upfront with me and I am very happy with their service. I would particularly like to praise Matt in Primary (especially since he was publically criticised on here in an earlier review). When I first arrived I had some issues with the first school in which I was placed. He took an enormous amount of time to talk it through with me. He was sympathetic, supportive and encouraging and ever since has been great (and yes – I have called in sick, was very apologetic for letting the agency down and they were VERY sympathetic back). It’s my opinion that you get back what you give – I am always professional and perhaps thats why I get back such a favourable service

* This agency has given me the opportunity of a life time!. I am currently at the most wonderful Special Needs School!! London has changed my life in so many ways, and I cannot thank Classroom Canada, Victoria, for being so fabulous in helping the 'leap' as easy as possible! When I arrived, I was supply teaching 4-5 days a week at some very difficult schools which challenged me as a Teacher and as I said, am now working at a wonderful Special Needs School - therefor I have experienced the craziness of supply, but also the incredible experience the UK has to offer regarding Special Schools. As far as the London Classroom Teams, they have been very helpful, supportive and understanding. Thanks so much again!.

I've been with Classroom for three years, as both a daily supply teacher & a full time teacher and I've had no issues with them. They're professional, and do expect loyalty, but I've worked for other agencies before them and for me, it was a relief to join Classroom and be treated like a grown up.

This agency was a real let down for me, the only reason I stay with them is because the school I'm working at has requested me full time. Otherwise, I would take my business elsewhere and I certainly won't be recommending them to anyone else. I am another Canadian who came over on the advice of Victoria. She was great getting me to London, but once here I felt totally abandoned. I was told to come at the end of August because it was the best time to secure supply and possibly full-time jobs, or at least interviews for September. However when I arrived I found out that because school didn't even start until the second week of September there were absolutely no jobs available. Instead of being sympathetic towards me, Victoria just encouraged me to "enjoy London." I found this EXTREMELY frustrating as I was worried about finances and living costs but she didn't have any solid advice or even reassurance for me, just insisting that work would "pick up." Which, true enough, it did. In October. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering I moved across the world on the promise of full time work by the middle of September. I was also told repeatedly that I would be teaching in Zones 1-2, I only ever had jobs in Zones 6 or further. I also found the Classroom staff in London extremely hard to work with. They lost my references and didn't work to get them sorted out for more than a week after I had arrived. They grilled me on my sickness the ONE day I called in. They told me to LIE to my school when they double-booked me and another teacher so that they could make more money, neverminding the fact that they made ME look bad. They made me feel endlessly guilty when I refused a job at a school I wasn't comfortable at. I was placed in many uncomfortable situations without being told about them before-hand. For example, I was sent to a Special Ed school and was told that one of my duties would be to change an older male student's nappie. I said I was uncomfortable doing so and the school was very upset. Not with me, however, but with Classroom, because Classroom had lied to them and said I was more than willing to change nappies. Quite frankly Classroom needs to step it up big time. They don't follow through for teachers or their schools and they will be losing business big time if they don't change their practices.

I (along with other teachers that I know) was treated very poorly by some members of the Classroom team. Firstly, I was misled about the amount of work available when I initially came over. Secondly, I was basically 'told off' when I questioned this. Members of Classroom staff repeatedly had gossip conversations about me to other teachers (that of course, told me) and this really played a negative role on my London experience. As well, some of their schools are inaccessible and take quite a while to get to - out of the 10 or so schools I worked at, 8 were in Zone 4 or 5) and their rate of pay is the lowest I have seen from supply agencies. Classroom will make you feel like you must be loyal to them, but remember, they are a BUSINESS, not your friends. In fact, it was even recommended to me by Classroom staff that I apply for another agency as they weren't able to provide me with enough work - they told me this eventually after arriving in London. I was told certain pieces of advice (via e-mail) before arrival in London only to be told two months later that I had made all the wrong choices (based on where they told me to live, etc.). All in all, I had an exceptionally negative experience with Classroom, and although they have been great for some people, I would never recommend them. Eventually I signed up with a different agency and have never been treated better! Luckily, Classroom does have some decent schools (if you don't mind traveling) and that's about all the have going for them. Oh, and their SEN team is pretty good.

I have really mixed feelings about Classroom. The recruiter, [Name], is the best thing going for this agency. She is nothing but personable and incredibly helpful. She puts you at ease from day 1, and is just great to deal with. But, she also gets angry with anyone who voices concerns about the amount they've worked. She came over to London in November, and a few of us mentioned we'd not gotten much work yet. As we were leaving, she said good-bye and told us not to contact her about not getting work, that she only wanted to hear good news. She spends a LOT of time trying to promote the agency on Facebook and through her blog, but perhaps less time should be spent "like"ing teacher's statuses about going on holiday to Europe, and more time spent supporting those who are having difficulty. Basically, she doesn't want to hear from you unless things are going well. Classroom is a small agency (only three Primary consultants). So while it means everyone knows your name, the amount of work is not the same as some other agencies. My main issue, however, is with the staff in the London office, particularly [Name] (head of the primary division). The only day I called in sick, I had been up the entire night before sick. When I called in that morning to say that I was ill, he asked "are you vomiting?" which in my opinion was really uncalled for. I answered yes, and he asked if there was any way I could go in anyways. Very unprofessional. Another person I know was accused by [Name] of calling in sick because their significant other was arriving (that night, so calling in sick for work would make no sense). Very uncompassionate.

Lowest rate of pay of any agency. Did not provide enough work so I signed up with another agency, I was then basically blacklisted. They talk about loyalty a lot but don't deliver to their teachers. If you don't take a long term job because you're uncomfortable with the position they berate you and won't give you work. My new agency treated me much better and paid 30 pounds more a day. Go Protocol!

*Note: This comment has been moderated to remove rating due to insufficient experience with agency. I came down to their office the day I arrived in London and they would not give me the time of day because I did not have an appointment. I live far from the agency and all I wanted to do was srop off my documents but they insisted I come back another day (not to mention pay for another day pass to get there). I went out and signed up with someone else same day, on the spot. Next time I talked to them they claimed they had never checked my references (they had) and that I would have to resubmit. Thus my relationship with the agency ended. PS If you are signed up with more than 1 teaching agency, Classroom will NOT be happy and hold it against you. Given the current supply climate and the cost of living in London, many supply/day to day teachers have no other choice but to register with more than 1 teaching agency to survive at least as a backup.

I have worked on and off with classroom for 4 years and as long as you call everyday they often find you full weeks of work. They describe the schools they send you to very well and have a variety of placements available. They also try to stick to your area of expertise. It is the only agency I use because they are very clear with you from the start and very helpful.
