I am registered with the Southampton branch. The consultants are friendly and honest, I get paid promptly with no problems. I am being offered more work than I really want. It is important to remember that each local branch is different, and changes over time. Don’t judge based on information from branches you won’t be working with

I have worked for the Brighton office for the last 12 years and have had plenty of work. Which has included long term teaching assignments, long term(maths) intervention, work for the local virtual school and day to day cover .I have always had first class service from this office and would recommend them without reservation

This agency is terrible! I can NEVER get hold of my consultant. He never calls back and is always “out of the office”. The only reason I am still with them is because the school I am currently with (after I finally got work with this agency-no work for the first couple of months) asked for me for the rest of the year. When the agency did ask me if I could work I would be told that it would be confirmed only I never heard back. This happened with interviews too. Have met other people working with them too and none of them are happy. Do not go to Synarbor London!

AVOID LIKE PEST! Agents are bullies that talk you down when you ask about your rights as a long term supply teacher. When they go on holiday they FORGET(!!!!??) to submit the pay instruction to the umbrella company you choose, so you have to chase up your payment and do the work for them.
Overall unprofessional, rude, taking advantage of every penny you can make for them.

Don’t understand the negative comments, Synarbor have been amazing right from the moment I emailed the Australian team – up until I left the UK. They call when they say they will. They listened to me and what I wanted. I had constant work in great schools, both on supply and long term! and The pay was good too. I have recommended them to all of my friends.

This agency is really professional and concentrates on matching candidates to the right job, rather than advertising flashy “bribes” just to get numbers up. Not a bad word to say about them. Keep up the good work guys.

I worked with the Brighton Branch and they were fantastic! I was offered a GPS contract which guaranteed me 4 days of work a week – which was a big deal, steady work in a new country. After 3 weeks of Supply work I landed a long term teaching placement at a school I had previously done some supply work for. I was at this school until I moved back to Canada!
I was pretty nervous about moving to a new country as a teacher completely alone. My consultant gave me contact details of other Canadians going over as well when I landed so we formed a pretty tight group.
I did this 3 years ago and I still keep in touch with my consultant and the teachers that I worked with. This was such an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Synarbor was very helpful in getting us set up to work before we came over.

There was a constant dialogue regarding things we needed to have, such as the appropriate checks and certificates, and things we should know when we got here.

When we arrived, we were more or less ready to start working. When we arrived they were helpful in supplying letters and the right information to allow us to set up bank accounts.

Since the term started, there has not been a day where I have not been working, and they are always helpful in giving directions and telling which train or bus to get when I am placed at a new school.

Being new to the country and not knowing where anything is, this is so appreciated!

Working supply is a wonderful way to get to know a region!

Avoid like the plague! My consultant lied to my headteacher and then I got told off and blamed by the headteacher for something that was not my fault! The male consultants are useless and do not listen to anything you say. All they do is talk and expect you to listen and say yes. Very unprofessional!!! Supply agencies really need to disappear in this country! Business school drop outs should not be in charge of recruiting educators! Back to Canada I go!

Very bad organization in London. In the first Interview, they gave me back my photocopy docs and I had to scan and email them back. They own me money for one supply since September, even I sent them too much email for this day they didn’t answer. They have different telephone phone and they are not always available their lines. The consultant I have is very rude. The first time that she saw me said that she will give more money than my first agency company but she didn’t. Also she called me at 7.45 and I told her an approximate time that I will be at the school. Note that the school is very far in another town and I need bus and train to reach it. This day was foggy and she called me and textured me, shouting and continuing to say that I am layer that will be at the school on the time. In the morning there is mass traffic conjunction but this woman doesn’t understand she continued to say that I have to be at any school at 8.30 and asking to tell her exactly when I will be there.I sent her an e-mail and she stopped to speak about that but of course I didn’t have any reply to apologized. Lastly, she is calling every week or every two days and asking about my availability, even I mailed every Friday her colleague. She is saying that she will call me back in 5 minutes but she never do it. Please make a favourite to yourself if you don’t need money, don’t work to this agency.

This agency trades under several different names. The staff have a poor quality of working life, mostly being expected to work 14 hour days with breaks frowned upon. I am also aware of a bully culture within the company.
Teachers are exploited to hold open vacancies so the more cut throat senior staff can cash in the commission essentially leaving schools without good quality teachers.
My experience of this Company and its reputation would be to AVOID at all costs. There are plenty of good moral ethical companies trading in the same industry who are NOT money motivated!

I thought I’d leave a review as I’ve just been placed on a PERM role for Sept 13 – so won’t be doing supply anymore.

Before I go I wanted to be fair to the team and give them a big thumbs up. I’ve registered with several agencies and Synarbor Education have quite frankly been the best – quick to respond, always paid on time, nice selection of schools and above all very honest.

I’ve been put off by a few agencies, simply for just telling fibs or not getting paid on time. I’ll review them if I find them on this site, lets just say I didn’t engage their services past three or four jobs. Plus got stuck in with one supply teacher who I would not be surprised to see on the news at some point – terrible!

Anyway – Synarbor have been good, I’ve not had anything negative so can’t give anything but a good review – I may have been lucky but the few other teachers I’ve bumped into who use them agreed they are one of the best to go with.

    A xx

I’m registered with quite a few agencies. However, I’m mainly working through Synarbor as they have consistently supplied me with work.
Recently, another agency had twice promised me long-term work only to be left with 1 week’s work at most. In both instances, Synarbor has found me work for the next few days following.
I am currently on Synarbor’s Guaranteed Payment Scheme as I feel that I have been treated exceptionally well. My consultant is very professional, attentive to my concerns, and has supported me well.
In my experience, I found that some agency consultants are profit-oriented and client-driven treating teachers like a number while focusing on the client’s needs. I have found that Synarbor truly lives out the liaising aspect of recruiting, looking after both the supply teacher and the client’s needs.
I would highly recommend Synarbor to other teachers.

Having relocated for this agency I was shocked to find out about their dishonesty with the amount of work available, and the “payment scheme”. The people I have dealt with in Synarbor and Supply Desk are extremely rude and crass. They did not pay me for a full two months after my relocation due to “bank errors” which there were none of. They are extremely unprofessional and non-supportive of their “staff”. It appears that they are here to only support the schools and make money, as our pay as supply teachers is well below the average.

I worked with many agencies in the UK and this was by far the worst to deal with.

My initial experience with them was very positive; they said all the right things and seemed to have things in order – in reality, I was completely mislead.

I was told that I had a guaranteed contract beginning in October. This meant I was looking at minimum 4 days a week of work. October rolled around and the contract was pushed back to November (leaving me with out rent money or work for nearly an entire month). Once the contract was initiated, the work was still minimal contrary to their initial promises. I ended up moving back to Canada for a period of time to reassess if my second year of teaching in the UK was going to work.

Upon my return, the agent I was in contact with suddenly quit. My contract was subsequently dropped and I was left unemployed once again. In addition, the man filling in my agents role was rude, confrontational and lied to myself and the schools he was in contact with. It was a very unpleasant experience.

I have friends that have had very similar experiences with this agency. As a teacher with experience in the UK I advise you to steer clear of this agency. There are others that will take care of you, this is not one.

Pure schiesters; didn’t sign me on to contractual work until I had already arrived in the UK, and then once I had been signed for two weeks, during which time I was given one days work, they refused to pay me and took me off contract. They recieved three stars for personality simply for their skill in pulling the wool over my eyes.
