History / Humanities Teacher in South London

| November 26, 2014

A History / Humanities teacher is required at a large comprehensive school in south London from January.

This is a large, challenging comprehensive school in south London. Ofsted deemed it to require improvement but, following a change in leadership, improvements are being made, but work still needs to be done. They reported that, “the school’s relentless focus on improving the quality of teaching is having an impact on the progress that students make and standards are rising across the school.”

The headteacher now wishes to appoint a dynamic and committed teacher of History (to A level) and Humanities who can help turn around results and inspire young learners. This role is from January and could become a permanent position for the right candidate. The candidate must have experience of teaching in UK state secondary schools and will be able to:

  • Raise the quality of teaching to ensure that more students make better progress
  • Share their good practice in teaching
  • Provide opportunities in lessons for students to make decisions and take greater responsibility for their own learning.
  • Ensure that feedback to students is constructive and provides them with the next steps needed to progress.
