Having been a teacher in Ireland for 3 years I was delighted to start working for Destination Education when I moved to London.

The whole process of getting me out to work was not only very efficient and professional but also in a friendly manner. They gave me a great variety of schools to suit my needs and have the best rates of pay.

    Would highly recommend.

I have been working constantly with Destination Education since 2010. They have been able to provide me with long-term teaching position and I found them easy to work with. I would describe them as a relaxed but professional team to work with.

I have only good things to say about Destination. From day 1 they were professional, supportive and helpful. I was at work doing what I love within 2 days, I was paid promptly. The consultants are approachable and efficient and seem to have working relationships with some excellent schools. Thanks to all at Destination & I’ll be in touch when I’m back in London

See the negative comments. They reflect my experience of the company. There are glowing reports too. Who wrote those I wonder? There are no indifferent reviews (following this post they might appear) which is what one would expect if all the reviewers were honest.

Very pleased with Destination Education. They found me work consistently at several different schools all the way through to the end of the summer term. I only wish I’d joined them sooner. Neil and Jen are both fantastic people who are friendly, understanding and were a pleasure to work with. Thanks.

This agency is UNPROFESSIONAL, DISHONEST, RUDE, UNCARING and DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH.
Couldnt care less about its workers, constantly lying and UNRELIABLE.

Would NOT RECOMMEND to anyone and they will drop you without a moment’s notice so that they can prey on another unsuspecting person.
Not surprised by all the very negative comments here, in fact it accurately sums them up. Rotten to the core.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! There are other decent agencies out there.

I can’t believe the amount of negative comments on this feed. I am a Teacher with 17 years of experience and have joined many agencies for day to day work within the past four years. I only came across Destination Education last Easter when one of the Primary Schools I was supplying at recommended them.

After I had contacted them they were so quick and efficient to get me in for an interview and I was straight out to work within two days.

Destinations day to day and long term rate is at least £5 more per day than any other agency I have worked for and everyday I have been available they managed to find me work.

If it’s day to day or long term work you are looking for I would 100% recommend Destination Education, even though I am only interested in day to day work, they offer me constant long term roles, just in case I still may be interested.

I can see comments on here about umbrella companies, but unfortunately most education agencies nowadays do use them, you can always use the route to go through PAYE with Destination.

Edustaff will agree a payment rate with you and then by using an umbrella company they will pay you far far less, for example my rate was £65 per day as a teaching assistant (£325 a week) without any tax and minimal of my own national insurance my weekly payment was £281, around £15 was taken out for national insurance, £14 for the umbrella companies ‘fee’ and yet this still does not add up! This is because the umbrella company pays you at a minimum wage! Yes that’s right not the agreed £65 per day. They then add on a couple of extras to make it look better like holiday pay and expenses, however you will still ALWAYS be paid LESS THAN YOUR AGREED RATE! It’s disgusting and unfortunately is still legal at the moment, the umbrella company were paying me minimum wage for 30hours per week (even though I worked more!) it’s a con and a disgrace! I would advise against using any company that uses an umbrella company they take almost a third of your wages (without tax!) if you can try as soon as possible to get a contract with the school as you will be paid much much better! Edustaff and any agency using an umbrella company is a CON! They are untrustworthy and do not care about their agency staff, a vile and parasitic company I feel devastated that I ever trusted them and worked under their name!

    Negative

    * Rude over the phone.
    * When you turn work down because it’s too far they become aggressive.
    * Promise you ‘local’ schools but in all honesty it’s at least an hour away.
    * Delayed payments.
    * Lost one of my documents during registration.

    The positive is

    * Fancy office. How do they pay for that? With our commission that they take.
    * Kept me real busy, lots of schools.
    * schools are really good quality, how could this jack ass of an agency get these schools? They know how to blag.

    Find another agency.

    Avoid at all costs

Applied for a TA job and got a call inviting me to an interview really quick. Thought this is okay. The consultant interview was rearranged several times and when it was planned, my consultant arrived 30 mins late. ( These people are meant to be career consultants yet cannot turn up on time). The next stage was a trial day at the school, which involved a full days work, with no expensed paid. Was meant to recieve feedback from the trial as to whether i got the job. After a week I had to call my consultant who promptly made an excuse and said he would contact me when he found out more information. I never got that contact!!!.

I spent so much of my time, yet they did not have the common decency to just inform me that I didn’t get the job.

This compnay may portray that they want to help you get a job in education, yet are only after one thing. MONEY. As soon as you are not worth anything they will drop you. Even if you get offered a job, they still will be taking a large cut of your wage. BEWARE

An honest company. Were frank at interview and stated that good teachers would always be offered work but poor teachers would not be asked to return to schools. It is the schools that offer the work and the agency tries to find the best person for the job. I am pleased that schools request me when a vacancy arises. Schools request that certain teachers shouldn’t return there.

I applied to a position online and was brought in to register and told that they had two positions set up already for me. They then told me that they would put through a CRB for me and take the payment out of my first pay cheque.
I then heard nothing from them until one week later when a different agent emailed saying she was taking over my case. She then asked me to pay for the CRB. I enquired as to why that would be when I signed a document saying they could take the payment out of my first pay cheque. It has now been two weeks later and I have had no response what so ever.
These people just want to take on new clients so that they look good. They are not finding people work. I have heard many stories that are similar to mine. They are just sharks.

I registered a few months ago and while my file was being made compliant didn’t hear from them. However, once everything was done I immediately started getting calls and bees given work all the time. The schools are good but even if they weren’t, I don’t think we can blame the agency and after all, ALL students are entitled to an education so we supply’s have to be there for them.
    Love the agency. Would recommend

The male staff are aggressive. They love to flirt with female teachers/ta’s but because I’m a bloke they just wanted to get me off the phone. Called them to report an incident where a child could have been seriously harmed and all they did was laugh behind my back.

I registered with this agency in the hope of finding an NQT role but this is not possible, with agencies, as I now know. The consultant who saw me was friendly and personable and she placed me for five days of supply work since I registered in November last year, but have had no further contact from them. That is how the work situation is currently, I do appreciate the lack of available jobs and its 99% luck if anything that you land a good role that you want. I used to blame agencies when I first started out but now know it is out of their hands whether you get a job or not!

They really sold it at the interview and it started off ok. But after a week or two calls were coming very late in the mornings, schools were very far away (2 hours in some cases). Would regularly not disclose whether it was for cover supervisor or supply, and also on half day or full day. Still waiting on pay owed after I secured a long-term position with another agency! Have contacted them numerous times but still waiting on this to be resolved 3 months on!

Destination were very helpful. A little disorganised but well meaning, no problem with money after I joined some outfit in guernsey or jersey… Some kind of tax dodge, but if it’s legal then why not. Vibe in the other hand seem to be getting known as a supplyer of hot little babes from down under, kiwis or Aussies, if you are a mature male, looking formTA work, , they will take all your details be prepared to never hear from them.. This suspicion of mine, re vibe was confirmed when I was speaking to a head of a school using only vibe, he had noticed the same, an endless supply of pin ups from aus and nz – .. He offered to write a recommendation to vibe on my behalf, but insisted that if I made it to interview a short skirt and pasties might be beneficial. As a 6’3 male I am sure it would leave an impression. Just my opinions based on personal experiences.

i’m quite shocked by many of the reviews here. I have only worked with one agency and decided to register with Destination as I was recommended by a friend who had worked for other agencies but preferred Destination. I have had work everyday since I arrived here, except for days I have requested not to work which the agency were fine about. I have also been offered a few ‘blocks’ of work which I have turned down as I’m here on a working holiday. Yes, I have been sent to one awful school but when I requested to not be sent back there again they were very obliging. I have also let them know which schools i prefer and if they come up then they try and get me into that school. Everytime they call they are friendly and happy. I did have a couple of issues with getting paperwork together but that was a combination of factors, including some of it being my fault. I have had no issues with getting paid whatsoever. The pay is quite ok but im unsure what other agencies offer. I would definitely recommend them.

Spoke to a different person, and was told the person that I asked for would call me back as he is out of the office – no call back whatsoever! Called them again the next day, spoke to the person who contacted me the first time, told me he would call me back – again nothing! Last week, Destinantion called me three times to offer me work, which they promised to confirm, but never did. I called them often and they never called me back.
This morning, I called in to ask for supply work. They confirmed all the details of the school, and whilst I was on my way I called the school to let them know I was coming. A good job I did. The school hadn’t even requested a cover, the guys had sent me out on a wrong assumption.
This was a school about an hours journey from my house. I wasted sleep and stress getting there, and there was no need.

Agency sent me to a school with a view to a long term position, one which I decided not to take.

Though I immediately told the agency I wasn’t going to be taking the job, they failed to pass this information onto the school, who were left expecting me to turn up to start work five weeks later. Embarrassing for me, massive implications for school – all down to Destination’s incompetence.

Hi everyone!!! Destination are only agency I have signed up for and have to admit they have been quite supportive and friendly so far. Think I have had quite a few jobs per week since I signed up….and staff have usually been understanding to. Maybe it depends also on the areas we live in but otherwise no serious complaints. But if you really aren’t happy then definitely try another agency.

If someone were to ask me what I dislike about daily supply I would say working with agencies such as this one. Destination is not a teaching agency, it’s a business and don’t be loomed by thinking they will actually care about you. They care only about the money they make on you.
I registered with them in September 2010 and did not get any work until January. Then suddenly they remembered about me and yes I would get work nearly everyday, however, they would send me to teach year levels I specifically ask not to be sent to teach. They would lie time and time again. You think you’re on your way to teach a Reception class but having arrived at the school you find out it is year 6 you are about to teach all day! They don’t give you as chance to prepare yourself at all. I am still working my way towards teaching older children and need someone who will be patient and will give me the choice rather than get rude when I express my concerns and then lie to me. Every time I call them I am being rushed and left feeling like I’m wasting their precious time. I do not like complaining and I really love teaching but I am very disappointed with this agency. Destination, I give up on you! And to all supply teachers: there are many lovely agencies out there which will care about you and make teaching experience a positive one. Thank you for this website. At least I know it’s not just me..

This seems to be one of those occassions when I can say I’m glad it’s not just me … but I’m sorry that it’s you too …

Joined DE in September. Was impressed and they got me working the very next day. Have had lots of work with them but communication can be incredibly poor. I have lost count of the number of times I’ve been told their email system is down (the excuse only works once), that the person you want to talk to is ‘making a cup of tea’ or ‘out to lunch’ and that ‘they’ll call you as soon as they get back’ (they don’t.)

Have had to chase up pay on more than one occassion. Currently trying to get paid for a ‘trial day’ at the end of November with them saying that trial days are not paid – not that this appears on a contract or is mentioned or explained beforehand. Repeated attempts by myself to resolve this have met wuth unreturned phone calls and emails and being passed around different members of staff who have told me all sorts of different things. Frustrating. Final attempt to be paid before Christmas was made today and resulted in my calm, reasoned, factual points being responded with wriggling, excuses, anger and ultimately having the phone put down on me. One for the union then …

So thanks DE for leaving me short of cash – cash I EARNED for WORKING for you – before Christmas.

    One word.

    Avoid.

I can totally identify with what the other raters have said. Destination Education is all the talk when you register with them but then they take ages to get you any work. If you call them, they will remember nothing about you – promise to call you back – and then fail that problem. This has happened to me so many times I can’t even count them. I have only worked for them 3 days and I have been registered for 3 months now. I am kicking myself though because I turned down work that wasn’t quite what I was looking for at the time – and now I think I should have taken it. They don’t seem able to find me anything else, plus the vacancies on their website are not at all updated. They’re not the greatest but I wouldn’t say they are the worst. EDUSTAFF ARE THE WORST BY FAR!!!

This agency is awful – I do not even want to give them any stars. They talk the talk on the phone, invite you in to discuss jobs they have advertised and think you would be great for. Then you never hear from them again, except to tell you that they have lost your documents, although they say that you did not bring them in. The consultant I registered with looked like he couldnt be bothered and pretty much gave the impression that he was doubtful he would find me work as it’s so quiet. They’re just really salesy Essex/Kent lads – maybe if you go to register looking really glamorous with your fake tan they may be more inclined to find you work – so they can schmooze you. Waste of time – dont bother!

Destination Education talked a great game when I arrived in the UK and registered. They have a huge, professional-looking office and I was sure I’d get a lot of work. After a term, I’d worked 3 days with them. 3 days (and to get paid for one I had to do a lot of chasing). After I got a long-term position through another agency and informed D.E. I’d be unavailable the rest of the year, they kept calling! They also ignored my preferences and only would consider sending me to one category of classroom rather than the broad range offered by other agencies.

Nearly 2 years later, I’ve contacted them from time to time as I think I’m still on their books and nothing’s ever come of it. They’re just crap.

I worked for them in the past.
    Very little work.
Spoke to my consultant a few times he said he would phone me back- didn’t.
They hardly ever reply to your emails and remember next to nothing about you when they talk to you.

Bad experience. First of all, when I registered with them, they lost some of my original documents so I had to go back to the office when they found them. After that they never called me for work. I called them several times, they always told me that they were going to call me back but it never happened. Even I emailed them many times but they never replied either. When you call them, they never give you an explanation, they just say they are going to call you back later.
I have been working with a few agencies as a TA, nursery nurse and teacher and I have to say that Destination Education is the worst agency in London. At least, they could listen to you if you have any queries.

I have nothing but good things to say about this agency!
