Really excellent service, friendly, persistent, always on your side, a really great agency particularly Dan Stuart.

I was really excited to register with this agency to start my teaching career; after all, I had already 10 months of experience teaching in the UK in my age group plus more experience teaching overseas.
After making me submit tones of documents, and after fussying about the nature of my proof of address (they first wanted a statement, then they wanted another statement, then they didn’t like the statement and wanted a P45 and so on), they finally contacted me after ages claiming that they didn’t have enough teaching references from me.
And therefore they would not send me through for daily supply, but they would put me forward for any long term role available.
    Totally no sense.
Daily supply is for getting experience. If I was a highly experienced teacher I wouldn’t need to do daily supply, I would have gotten myself a permanent role.
    Cannot recommend them at all.
    Time wasters.

Classroom Teachers is a fantastic agency to be with. I worked for them from 2006 to 2008 as a secondary school teacher. As so many other teachers I had very bad experiences with some agencies. It took a while to find the right agency for me. I always felt treated well and with respect. The consultants took the time to get to know me and my strengths in order to match me with the right school. Whenever I needed anything they were always available and called back straight away. The quality of schools is good in comparison to other agencies and Classroom has excellent relationships with the school’s internal cover coordinators. This is worth gold. I really enjoyed my time with them. With Classroom you are never just a number, but a person they enjoy working with.

I have been with classroom for over 5 years and I must say they are the best teaching agency in London. They just got me my dream permanent position which means I am sadly leaving them.

From the first day I stepped into a school to teach, I have always been on long term roles and always had awaiting new positions just as the old contract was about to end. For five good years I always had work such that I never even wished to look for a permanent position until the ever so kind, amazing, efficient and super professional Boushra (my consultant at classroom)called and said: “I have this position for you which will lead to permanent and I think you will love it”. I must say, yes, I’m really loving it. I never thought before then about permanent positions because I was well paid by classroom and also they always had work for me.

It was classroom that made me realise my main teaching interest, SEN. I only went there to register main stream, then the SEN head popped in, introduced SEN to me and asked if I was interested. I gladly said yes and it has been the best “yes” I’ve said in my life. I have never looked back since.

If they’ve helped me shape my career this far with such success, I’m sure they will do the same for anyone else.

For quality schools, personality, class, amount of work, honesty and first class overall service, I would definitely say it Classroom Teachers.

I have been working as a part time supply teacher since September 2010 with four different agencies and I had my fair share of bad experiences such us: being called late and paid for half a day, working as a supply teacher and being paid as a cover supervisor and other similar incidents. Fortunately none of these happened working for Classroom, which for me has been the best agency on all four essential matters for us as supply teachers: professional and lovely consultants (Primary and SEN Division- Boushra, in my case), consistent work, fair pay and good schools. Since September of last year, the only agency I would work for is Classroom.

Although I was working two jobs, classroom were very flexibly with my days and allowed me to supply teach around my second job. I found them very helpful and they always sent kept in touch via email even when I was working my second job. On average I worked between 5-7 days a month supply teaching in which I was sent to some good schools.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Classroom and would recommend them to anyone looking to work in full time / part time or supply teach in secondary or primary schools.

I am registered with about 8 teaching recruitment agencies and Classroom is, by far, the one I prefer. There is mainly one reason for that: the consultant I have had the pleasure to work with, Ashleigh. The quality of the consultants make a good recruitment agency, and she couldn’t be any more honest, efficient, competent and supportive. She has always asked me what kind of teaching work I wanted to do and would find work that would suit my wishes and personality. We don’t find that in many other agencies, and with many other consultants. Right now, Classroom is the main agency I am working for, and I am sure that has been a wise decision. All in all, it is a reliable agency and has the best consultants – I can only speak from my personal experience, but mine has been a rewarding, positive teaching experience, and I finally found a consultant that was looking forward to fulfill my professional goals.

I am a teacher of many years experience and have worked in London for the last seven years.
Even though I have worked for several other agencies in London, my relationship with Classroom has been the best. Classroom were quick to understand my needs and quickly targeted my recent position based on my experience.
I have worked with Boushra since my coming on with Classroom ( beginning January 2012) and she has been pro-active, professional and has handled delicate situations with great care, both for the client (the school ), and for me. Thank you Boushra for your professionalism and for your kind words and positive support. I am looking forward to a continued rewarding relationship.

My experience at Classroom has been an incredibly and totally positive one. I have always found the teams to be personable with thorough knowledge of their schools. The staff in the secondary division, in which I have worked, have applied a very considerate and rigorous approach in finding schools that match my personality and skill set. If you want to work with a warm, friendly and happy team of people who know what they’re talking about than this is the agency for you.

Nice people but gave a lot of false hope and impressions to new mostly Canadian teachers. If you are new overseas teacher please do not buy into their whole loyalty scam. Look out for yourself and join up with more then one agency if work is getting thin.

I didn’t like this agency very much at all. They had very little work for me and sent me into Zones 5 or further. Traveling 2+ hours to and from work is not fun! The accommodations they provide for teachers are very expensive for what they are; dirty, small, uncomfortable. I’ve switched to Protocol (and moved out) and am a lot happier now!

[Name] is a joke. All she does is give useless information and definitely makes false promises before you arrive in the UK. Then once you arrive in London you are no longer her problem and sends you to the London office who are surprisingly worse than her! I would never recommend this agency to any teacher wanting to work in the UK. There are FAR better agencies out there.

I have worked for Classroom for coming up to a year as a primary teacher doing day to day supply and a few block bookings. The primary team have kept me busy with work throughout my time and on the rare occassions that I have taught a tough class, they have always warned me in advance. The primary team are approachable, helpful and have always been there for me with a listening ear when I have had a problem or issue. I have been sent to some good schools during my time with Classroom and my supply teaching experience has been a great learning curve for me.

I wouldn’t recommend this agency. The agents are rude and not sympathetic at all. The pay is not worth the hassle they put you through. [Name] show serious favouritism and will get agents to find you jobs only if you suck up, then she’ll tell you not to tell the others. The politics at Classroom are ridiculous.

Classroom is a smaller agency, and while it doesn’t offer guaranteed work schemes and the wider range of schools like some of the larger agencies do, I think my experience would have been a much more difficult one without the good things that Classroom offered.
The social networking/blog that connected me with teachers who were also arriving around the same time, and the access to accommodations when I first arrived gave me an instantaneous support group/friends that I don’t think I would’ve made so easily without them.
The Classroom office, in my experience, was quite good and the Secondary team very professional and friendly.
Was placed in a long-term position at a school in Northwest London (zone 3) fairly soon after arriving that I stayed in for the entire 2 years, so can’t comment too much on the variety of schools, but I was very happy there. If you are intent on doing daily supply, there will be a lag in work in Sept/Oct. Teachers aren’t yet sick/tired and their PD courses haven’t kicked up yet, so there are less school absences.

Overall, my experience with Classroom was positive and would recommend it.

Just okay. Victoria encourages new teachers not to worry when you first arrive and there is little work. She encouraged me to check RyanAir and use the time off to travel a bit before work picked up, which is completely unpractical given I had no money to spend, since I wasn’t working.
When I did go and sign up with another agency, the head of the Primary team, Matt, lectured me about loyalty and how these other agencies do not care about me as a person. Unfortunately, I can’t hold my loyalty to classroom as #1 if I have bills to pay and am not working enough.
Eventually, the work picked up (at the end of October). Had I not sought out additional work through another agency, I would have likely returned to Canada, as I simply couldn’t afford to live in London without some form of income.

I have been working with Classroom teaching agency since I arrived and I haven’t looked back. I have had regular work and taught in some really good schools (mostly in East London). They have always been honest and upfront with me and I am very happy with their service.

I would particularly like to praise Matt in Primary (especially since he was publically criticised on here in an earlier review). When I first arrived I had some issues with the first school in which I was placed. He took an enormous amount of time to talk it through with me. He was sympathetic, supportive and encouraging and ever since has been great (and yes – I have called in sick, was very apologetic for letting the agency down and they were VERY sympathetic back). It’s my opinion that you get back what you give – I am always professional and perhaps thats why I get back such a favourable service

    * This agency has given me the opportunity of a life time!. I am currently at the most wonderful Special Needs School!! London has changed my life in so many ways, and I cannot thank Classroom Canada, Victoria, for being so fabulous in helping the ‘leap’ as easy as possible! When I arrived, I was supply teaching 4-5 days a week at some very difficult schools which challenged me as a Teacher and as I said, am now working at a wonderful Special Needs School – therefor I have experienced the craziness of supply, but also the incredible experience the UK has to offer regarding Special Schools. As far as the London Classroom Teams, they have been very helpful, supportive and understanding. Thanks so much again!.

This agency was a real let down for me, the only reason I stay with them is because the school I’m working at has requested me full time. Otherwise, I would take my business elsewhere and I certainly won’t be recommending them to anyone else.

I am another Canadian who came over on the advice of Victoria. She was great getting me to London, but once here I felt totally abandoned. I was told to come at the end of August because it was the best time to secure supply and possibly full-time jobs, or at least interviews for September. However when I arrived I found out that because school didn’t even start until the second week of September there were absolutely no jobs available. Instead of being sympathetic towards me, Victoria just encouraged me to “enjoy London.” I found this EXTREMELY frustrating as I was worried about finances and living costs but she didn’t have any solid advice or even reassurance for me, just insisting that work would “pick up.” Which, true enough, it did. In October. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering I moved across the world on the promise of full time work by the middle of September. I was also told repeatedly that I would be teaching in Zones 1-2, I only ever had jobs in Zones 6 or further.

I also found the Classroom staff in London extremely hard to work with. They lost my references and didn’t work to get them sorted out for more than a week after I had arrived. They grilled me on my sickness the ONE day I called in. They told me to LIE to my school when they double-booked me and another teacher so that they could make more money, neverminding the fact that they made ME look bad. They made me feel endlessly guilty when I refused a job at a school I wasn’t comfortable at.

I was placed in many uncomfortable situations without being told about them before-hand. For example, I was sent to a Special Ed school and was told that one of my duties would be to change an older male student’s nappie. I said I was uncomfortable doing so and the school was very upset. Not with me, however, but with Classroom, because Classroom had lied to them and said I was more than willing to change nappies.

Quite frankly Classroom needs to step it up big time. They don’t follow through for teachers or their schools and they will be losing business big time if they don’t change their practices.

I (along with other teachers that I know) was treated very poorly by some members of the Classroom team. Firstly, I was misled about the amount of work available when I initially came over. Secondly, I was basically ‘told off’ when I questioned this. Members of Classroom staff repeatedly had gossip conversations about me to other teachers (that of course, told me) and this really played a negative role on my London experience. As well, some of their schools are inaccessible and take quite a while to get to – out of the 10 or so schools I worked at, 8 were in Zone 4 or 5) and their rate of pay is the lowest I have seen from supply agencies.

Classroom will make you feel like you must be loyal to them, but remember, they are a BUSINESS, not your friends. In fact, it was even recommended to me by Classroom staff that I apply for another agency as they weren’t able to provide me with enough work – they told me this eventually after arriving in London. I was told certain pieces of advice (via e-mail) before arrival in London only to be told two months later that I had made all the wrong choices (based on where they told me to live, etc.).

All in all, I had an exceptionally negative experience with Classroom, and although they have been great for some people, I would never recommend them. Eventually I signed up with a different agency and have never been treated better! Luckily, Classroom does have some decent schools (if you don’t mind traveling) and that’s about all the have going for them. Oh, and their SEN team is pretty good.

I have really mixed feelings about Classroom. The recruiter, [Name], is the best thing going for this agency. She is nothing but personable and incredibly helpful. She puts you at ease from day 1, and is just great to deal with. But, she also gets angry with anyone who voices concerns about the amount they’ve worked. She came over to London in November, and a few of us mentioned we’d not gotten much work yet. As we were leaving, she said good-bye and told us not to contact her about not getting work, that she only wanted to hear good news. She spends a LOT of time trying to promote the agency on Facebook and through her blog, but perhaps less time should be spent “like”ing teacher’s statuses about going on holiday to Europe, and more time spent supporting those who are having difficulty. Basically, she doesn’t want to hear from you unless things are going well.

Classroom is a small agency (only three Primary consultants). So while it means everyone knows your name, the amount of work is not the same as some other agencies.

My main issue, however, is with the staff in the London office, particularly [Name] (head of the primary division). The only day I called in sick, I had been up the entire night before sick. When I called in that morning to say that I was ill, he asked “are you vomiting?” which in my opinion was really uncalled for. I answered yes, and he asked if there was any way I could go in anyways. Very unprofessional.
Another person I know was accused by [Name] of calling in sick because their significant other was arriving (that night, so calling in sick for work would make no sense). Very uncompassionate.

Lowest rate of pay of any agency. Did not provide enough work so I signed up with another agency, I was then basically blacklisted. They talk about loyalty a lot but don’t deliver to their teachers. If you don’t take a long term job because you’re uncomfortable with the position they berate you and won’t give you work. My new agency treated me much better and paid 30 pounds more a day. Go Protocol!

I came down to their office the day I arrived in London and they would not give me the time of day because I did not have an appointment. I live far from the agency and all I wanted to do was srop off my documents but they insisted I come back another day (not to mention pay for another day pass to get there). I went out and signed up with someone else same day, on the spot.

Next time I talked to them they claimed they had never checked my references (they had) and that I would have to resubmit. Thus my relationship with the agency ended.

PS If you are signed up with more than 1 teaching agency, Classroom will NOT be happy and hold it against you. Given the current supply climate and the cost of living in London, many supply/day to day teachers have no other choice but to register with more than 1 teaching agency to survive at least as a backup.

The best thing Classroom has going for it is its social nature. From their blog full of resources and information to their honesty and openness, I have felt that Classroom is interested in my well-being from the beginning. Their teachers are closely knit and their agents do their best to get to know you.

The amount of work I’ve gotten from Classroom is much better than the agency I originally came to the UK with. Although they pay a little less than the competition, they can be counted on for work, which is important when you’re doing daily supply. I have had a mixture of schools with Classroom but, overall, the quality has been decent.

I would definitely recommend checking Classroom out as one of your first agency choices.

Classroom is a fantastic agency to teach with! They’ve been honest from the beginning and do their best to give you work (since signing up with them, I usually work 4-5 days per week through them!). The consultants are eager to please and they seem to really care about their teachers.
